✨ Kalyn’s Favorite Thanksgiving Recipe ✨
If you know Kalyn, you know she loves a good family recipe and cream cheese 😂— and this one is straight from her mom, Trish Mathis, who’s famous for making it for every holiday and get-together.

It’s the cheese ball everyone in Jacksboro asks for… the one that never makes it past the first round of crackers… and Kalyn’s absolute favorite. 😋

Trish’s Famous Cheese Ball
• 2 (8 oz) blocks cream cheese
• 3 bunches green onions, chopped
• 1 lb honey ham, finely diced
• 1 (6 oz) bag Hormel bacon bits — don’t use the cheap ones 😉
• ½ tsp garlic powder
• 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Mix well, roll into a ball, chill and watch it disappear.
A little creamy, a little smoky… and a whole lot of love from Kalyn’s mom. 💛

🍲 Anton’s Favorite Thanksgiving Recipe: Big Charlie’s Beans 🤎

This recipe comes from Anton’s grandad, Charlie Hayhurst, and it’s one he’s proud to share. These beans are rich, smoky, buttery, and full of flavor — the kind you look forward to all day.

✨ Big Charlie’s Beans

Ingredients:
• 2 lbs dry pinto beans
• 2 ham hocks
• 1 large sweet yellow onion
• 3 jalapeños
• 1 stick of butter
• Garlic powder, salt, pepper, cumin

Directions:
Soak beans for 12 hours, changing the water once after 6 hours.
Dice the jalapeños and onion and add to a large stock pot with the ham hocks and drained beans.
Season well with salt and pepper, then add 2 tsp garlic powder and 1 tsp cumin.
Add water until the level is about 2 inches above the beans, then add the butter.
Bring to a boil, reduce to a low simmer, and cook uncovered for 6–8 hours, stirring occasionally until thick.
Taste and adjust the spices if needed.

A simple, hearty pot of comfort — just the way Charlie liked it. ❤️

🍂 Renee’s Favorite Thanksgiving Recipe 🍂

A Lawrence Family Tradition

Today we’re sharing something truly special — Renee’s favorite Thanksgiving recipe, passed down from her grandmother, Neva Nell Lawrence. This cornbread dressing is one of those timeless, comforting dishes that feels like home.

Below is the recipe exactly as it’s been handed down:

Cornbread Dressing

Cooked cornbread - 6 packages of mix
Biscuits - 3 biscuit mixes
Chicken broth - 8 small cans or enough to make the bread mixture soupy
Sage - 0.5 oz, using a little at a time and tasting as you add
Poultry Seasoning - about a tablespoon
Salt and Pepper - add to taste
Celery - 2 stalks or 3 to 5 cups chopped
Onions - 1 to 3 cups chopped
7–8 eggs
1 stick of margarine

Put the margarine, celery and onions into skillet and cook until tender. With cornbread and biscuits in large pan, add enough broth to make it soupy. Add cooked celery and onions. Add sage, pepper, salt and poultry seasoning to taste. When the taste is right, add the eggs and stir good. Cook at 350 degrees and stir just enough to keep sides from browning too much. Cook until firm but not dry.

✨ Grandma Nell’s recipe continues to bless Renee’s family — and now we get to share it with ours.
Happy Thanksgiving, Jacksboro! 🧡
