Our nervous system is an electrical message system that was beautifully created by God. We are electrical beings. This is why I consider myself an energy healer.

The nervous system is like the top of a waterfall. If you can help it heal, other body systems can move into homeostasis.

I utilize craniosacral work, somatic emotional release, acupressure, breathing exercises, and vagus nerve stimulation techniques to help my clients regulate their nervous system.

I am excited to announce that I am now offering private somato emotional release exercise classes. Think of it as a cross between a low impact aerobic workout and a yoga class.

We will get the body moving with exercises designed to balance hormones, break through brain fog, help with concerns with anxiety and depression, and increase energy levels. We will practice breathing techniques for maximum oxygen intake that can help with overall health and well-being. My hope is that you will leave my class feeling grounded, awake, clear-headed, filled with joy, and more connected to your body.

Most of our changes don't happen overnight. We slowly move in a forward, backward, or sideways positions throughout life. We do need to decide to make a conscious effort to move forward towards healthy goals, but let it happen in your body's own time.

When working to heal your body, know that it takes time. Don't try to completely change your lifestyle in one day and don't get upset with your body if things don't improve as quickly as you had hoped.

The brain is 75% water. Because of that, it requires water to do its job of transmitting electrical impulses that allow for the electrolytes sodium and potassium in and out of nerve cells. Dehydration of the brain can cause mood disturbances as well as reduced cognitive and motor function. Impaired memory and increased sensitivity to pain can also occur.

The brain is measured at 60% fat once the water is removed. Along with drinking half our body weight in ounces of water for proper hydration, we also need to consume healthy fats to allow for a healthy functioning nervous system. The nerves are coated in a fat-based myelin sheath. If not enough healthy fat is consumed, that myelin sheath can deteriorate and lead to nerve damage.

When the adrenals are stressed, they produce cortisol. Cortisol inhibits the body's ability to produce hydrochloric acid. If we don't have enough hydrochloric acid, we can't properly absorb and digest the nutrients in our food (specifically protein).

This is one of the many reasons stress can cause energy loss. We need protein for energy production.

Normal levels of thirst usually come at about a 2-4% reduction in body water. Just a 2% dehydration rate affects mental alertness.

The author of Power Eating, Dr. Kleiner, says, "this triggers fuzzy, short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and focusing on the problems on the printed page or computer screen. The problem is, we are becoming dehydrated and we may not yet even feel thirsty."

SO, plan your water intake throughout the day. Drink water before you are thirsty. Also, drink half your body weight in ounces of water. On hot days or days you are heavily working out, drink more. If you drink caffeinated drinks or alcohol, you must drink even more water to make up for their diuretic effects on the body. Fresh fruits and vegetables and herbal teas can contribute to your water intake.
