❄️When you’re stuck inside during an ice storm
Being trapped indoors for days can make our minds wander a little too far; into worry, restlessness, or that heavy blah feeling. If you’re noticing your mood dip, you’re not alone. Cabin fever is real, and so is the mental load that comes with it.
A few gentle ways to keep your mind from spiraling and slipping into a funk:
🧠 Create small structure
Even simple routines—getting dressed, set meal times, or a short to-do list—can help your brain feel grounded.
📵 Limit doom-scrolling
Staying informed is okay, but constant weather updates and news can increase anxiety. Check once or twice, then step away.
🎨 Engage your hands
Color, journal, cook, organize a drawer, play a game, or work on a puzzle. Physical activity (even small) helps quiet racing thoughts.
🌿 Move your body—gently
Stretch, do a few yoga poses, dance in the kitchen, or walk laps around the house. Movement helps regulate your nervous system.
🤍 Connect with someone
Call, text, or FaceTime a friend or loved one. Isolation can sneak up on us during storms.
🕯️ Lean into comfort
Warm drinks, cozy blankets, familiar shows, calming music—comfort is not laziness, it’s regulation.
