For more many years, 31 to be exact, I have had the privilege of serving in the Jackson Public Schools Child Nutrition Department—a role that has become both my passion and my purpose. Coming from the classroom, I deeply understand the powerful connection between nutrition and learning. In Child Nutrition, we do far more than provide meals; we help create the conditions for students to thrive. We nourish their bodies so their minds can grow.
Every time I visit a school, I am inspired by our scholars. Their energy, curiosity, and potential remind me why our work matters. I take every opportunity to encourage them to make healthy choices and to believe in their ability to achieve excellence. Our scholars are this district’s greatest investment, and it is an honor to play a part in shaping their journey. I stand firmly behind the belief that School Meals Improve Learning Every day (SMILE). In simple terms: I serve to make them happy, I serve to meet their needs, it’s hard to learn if they are hungry. They are the reason why I serve.
I am also honored to be part of an exceptional catering team—one that brings creativity, professionalism, and a spirit of excellence to every event we support. Together, we help ensure that the district’s celebrations, milestones, and special moments are handled with care and pride.
Working in Child Nutrition has given me the opportunity to touch lives in a meaningful way. It has allowed me to serve not only meals, but also hope, encouragement, and consistency. I am proud to stand alongside my colleagues as we uplift our scholars and support the mission of this district. This work is more than a job—it is a calling, and one that I am grateful to fulfill each day!
