We are honored to have worked with Buckner Prosthetics, Zachary Myrick and their phenomenal team to help Mr. Brady on his incredible journey! Buckner’s dedication to improving outcomes changes the lives of Mississippians every day! Their work doesn’t just impact our patients, but the lives of their families and friends as well! If you have a jack-o-lantern, replace the candle with a battery-powered light. Also, if you can, make sure your costume is made of flame-retardant materials! (And, thanks to our MBHRC team for getting in the Minion spirit today!)

What a weekend! MBHRC was thrilled to celebrate those we serve and those with whom we are honored to serve! First up was Pumpkin Palooza, thanks to our partnership with the Burn Foundation of America. Our pediatric patients and their families enjoyed the crisp fall weather. That was followed by First Responders Family Appreciation Day, hosted by First Responders of Mississippi. Thanks to Benton Moseley and for being an awesome, gracious host! You made these events extraordinary!

We're a little late, but couldn't let another day pass without honoring one of our own for National Boss's Day. From our Medical Director, Dr. Derek Culnan: "There are bosses who lead by pointing or writing memos. A team will follow these leaders for a paycheck. Then there are leaders like Kelley Farner, our Lead Advanced Practice Provider. She inspires and elevates everyone around her. People don’t go where she points. They follow where she goes with an understanding if Kelley does it, they should do it. That’s true leadership, from the front." Thank you, Kelley, for all you do for our patients, their families and our entire burn team!

Our Medical Director, Dr. Derek Culnan, was honored to share tips on prehospital care with attendees and looks forward to building on these relationships with EMS to the benefit of all our patients!

There may be only two counties under a burn ban in Mississippi – Attala and Lee, but that doesn’t mean you can let your guard down when burning outside! During National Fire Prevention week, make sure you are burning far away from buildings, and you are not burning anything that could explode or give off harmful fumes.
