This picture is just a handful of the ER who have received their COVID-19 vaccine here in Mississippi. We are so thankful for our emergency physicians, nurses, techs, EVS workers, & social workers who have battled COVID-19 head on in emergency departments across the state of Mississippi for months.

This statement was issued by ACEP on Dec. 9, 2020 -
The American College of Emergency Physicians supports all emergency physicians and their role on the front lines of the COVID-19 response. We believe all emergency physicians and emergency department staff members should be afforded Group 1A access to the COVID vaccine as recommended by the CDC and FDA so they can safely continue the fight against this pandemic.

ACEP encourages hospitals and state policymakers to make every effort to ensure that all emergency physicians and frontline staff have the opportunity to be vaccinated as soon as possible. The management of emergency patients takes a team and we must ALL be safely there for our patients.

Just because you don't have symptoms, it doesn't mean that you have not been exposed to COVID-19. In fact, experts report that as many as 40% of those who become infected show no signs or symptoms. Do your part to protect yourself and others around you. COVID-19 is here and it is very real. Stay safe. Cover your face.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—The current surge of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations is extremely concerning for emergency physicians, patients, and health systems. With the U.S. surpassing 11 million cases and 1 million new cases recorded in just six days, this wave is bigger than what we experienced in the...

As Stress during the Pandemic Grows, Nearly Half of the Nation’s Emergency Physicians Uncomfortable Seeking Mental Health Care

“This new data adds real urgency to the need for emergency physicians, policymakers and clinical leaders to work together to change our approach to mental health. Every health care professional, especially those on the frontlines of the pandemic, should be able to address their mental health without fear of judgement or consequences,” said Mark Rosenberg, DO, MBA, FACEP, president of ACEP.

Read more about what ACEP is doing to ensure policymakers, regulators and clinical leaders take appropriate steps so that emergency physicians and other health care providers can safely secure treatment for their mental health, or other health issues that do not affect patient care, without repercussions to licensing, credentialing, or future employment. https://www.emergencyphysicians.org/article/mental-health/protecting-emergency-physicians-mental-health

By anonymously sharing your story, you can help inform and further ACEP’s advocacy efforts to remove the existing barriers to seeking treatment, including fears surrounding licensure and credentialing, and better encourage professional support and non-clinical mental health initiatives, such as peer support. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/mentalhealthbarriers
