Great to see this data being reported in our healthcare system!
This paper highlights how the circadian system (our network of internal 24-hour clocks) plays a vital role in regulating heart and metabolic function. Disruptions to these rhythms, from irregular sleep, shift work, or light exposure at night, can contribute to obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease.
This paper emphasizes the growing importance of a circadian rhythm.
What can you do to optimize your health?
🌞 See every sunrise & sunset with the naked eye.
🔵 Avoid isolated blue light when indoors (that’s what your blue blocking glasses are for). Especially in front of computers.
💡Try replacing your indoor lighting with incandescents.
🚫 Avoid ALAN (artificial light at night). Wear those red glasses!
😴 Stick with a routine sleep schedule.
🌳 Get outside in natural light as much as you can!

Cardiovascular and metabolic health are influenced by the circadian system, which regulates 24-hour rhythms across numerous physiologic processes. Disruptions to circadian rhythmicity can adversely affect cardiometabolic function and health. Given the importance of circadian health to overall human....
