D.D. Palmer, the founder of chiropractic, said “Why not adjust the cause instead of treating the effects?” This demonstrates the purpose and heart of chiropractic in relation to pain…
Pain is caused by damage or dysfunction in the nervous system. This could result from injuries, pressure on nerves, or certain systemic conditions. What many people don’t know is that pain is often referred and stems from a greater issue - misalignment (or subluxation) of the vertebrae or another joint. It is often the last symptom to show up in your every day life and the first to go with treatment.
Chiropractors don’t “treat pain” like the rest of the medical system does with steroid shots and pills. They identify and treat the underlying misalignment that causes the pain. Oftentimes, when people don’t feel pain anymore, they stop coming in for adjustments, but that doesn’t mean the misalignment ceases to exist. Many times, their pain comes back at a later point since the issue wasn’t given enough time to correct. In time, the body becomes trained to hold the adjustments for longer periods.
We believe that chiropractic is a lifestyle. We want to see your function improve and pain subside, but most importantly, we want to elevate you to optimal health and help you maintain it. This starts with intensive care to help rewire the body and continues with maintenance.
