Velma Agee-Ridgeway was born November 7, 1938 to the late James and Olivia Agee in Dixion Mills, AL. She departed this earthly life Sunday, January 18, 2026.

Velma was the first of three children. Velma attended and graduated from Marengo High School in the Class of 1956. Velma begin her career at Thomasville Hospital as a nurse for 30 years and dedicated 15 years of service with the Marengo County Rescue Squard in Sweet Water, AL.

Velma accepted Christ at an early age and united Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church, where she served as a choir member until her health begin to decline.

Velma met her soulmate, Albert Ridgeway in 1980 and they shared a wonderful life together for 22 years until the Lord called him home. Velma was women who was full of love, laughter and good times. Her favorite saying was “It’s Hard But It’s Fair”. She loved spending time with her family and watching Alabama Crimson Tide football and listen to music. “Roll Tide!”

Velma was preceded in death by her parents, James and Olivia Agee; husband, Albert Ridgeway; daughter, Sheila Agee-Chapman; grandsons: Larry Pendleton, Jr. and Tommy Chapman: great- granddaughter, Khadejan Wiggins; and brothers: James Agee, Jr. and Wendell Agee.

Velma leaves to cherish her legacy and precious memories to, nine devoted children: Tammy (Bill) Thornton and Toria (Kenneth) Rankins both of Coffeeville, AL, Wille B. (Wanda) Agee, Ronnie Lee Agee, Rickey (Doris) McCall all of Dixion Mill, AL and Terry (Tonya) Agee of Gasden, AL, Doreta (Larry) Pendleton, Billy (Javan) Agee and Tracy Hall all of Toledo, OH; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends

Kimberly Vanessa Powell Jackson born to the late Cassie B. and Ben "LR" Powell, she was affectionately known as KimKim by her nieces and nephews and will always be remembered as a free-spirited, kind-hearted mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.

In the middle of 2025, she was blessed with the joy of becoming a grandmother, a role she embraced with deep love and pride. Before her health began to fail, you could often find her fishing, mud riding, cooking, playing softball, planning family gatherings, getting her nails done, shopping, and cheering proudly as "that Alabama Tide rolled." You could also find her watching BET or Bravo!

Yet above all else, what mattered most to her was being a devoted mother to her son, Detrick Powell. Their bond was unbreakable, filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. As her son lovingly shared, "She loved me and I loved her, and we had some great years together - and I did right by her." KimKim truly lived life to the fullest, especially through the time she spent with her nieces and nephews, whom she adored deeply.

Unknown to many, she attended and graduated from the University of Miami, a testament to her determination and strength. She was honorable, kind, more than fair, sweet, charismatic, loving, and endlessly giving. She was an incredible woman who loved life and she loved us, her family, more than words could evere express.

Kimberly “KimKim” Vanessa Powell Jackson was preceded in death by her parents, Cassie B. and Ben “LR” Powell; three brothers, James “Nut” Powell, Charles “Chuck” Powell and Ben Powell; two nephews, Marcus Bragg and Jerome McAdoo; and one niece, Rosha Powell.

She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Detrick Powell; grandson, De’Axton “Lump” Powell; seven sisters, Dora Gaines of Barlow Bend, Sonya Powell of Citronelle, Rose Powell, Barbara (Albert) Bragg, Cheryl Powell, Marsha Powell and Nellie Powell, all of Wagarville; aunts, Effie (Willie D.) Roberts, Gwen Powell and Jeanette Powell, all of Wagarville and Rosetta Powell of Mobile; one uncle, Charles (Ola B.) Johnny West McClain, Jr. a native of the Manila Community of Jackson, AL and a residence of Beaumount, TX was born on July 1, 1987 to Aldonia and Johnny West McClain, Sr. Johnny made his earthly transition on Thursday, January 8, 2026 in Beaumont TX.

Johnny attended Jackson High School and after graduation he move to Beaumont, TX. There he began a career in construction.

Johnny loved his family, and most of all his daughter, Johnae’ who was his world. He was a very hard worker. His favorite pass time was hanging out with his friends and family. He loved watching football.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Betty Johnson, Jennie Fox, Jimmie Fox, and Willie Perkin, Sr.; uncle, Thomas Perkins; and aunt, Sandra Perkins.

Brother T. C. Reed, Jr., a native of McIntosh, AL was born April 17, 1945 to the late Mr. T.C. Reed, Sr. and Mrs. Claudia Mae Reed. He departed this earthly life peacefully on Tuesday, January 13, 2026.

Brother Reed was a faithful and dedicated member of New Beginning Apostolic Church, McIntosh, AL. He served faithfully in the church on the Trustee Board and was the Director of the church’s Maintenance Department. He was instrumental in the
groundbreaking and building of the church in its present location, and he was the overseer of the church cemetery. Brother Reed’s heart’s desire was to serve God with an excellent spirit. He stood on his testimony of being, “Saved, sanctified, and filled with the Holy Ghost.”

Brother Reed and his wife were a blessing to the McIntosh Community by extending many acts of kindness. He dedicated his time and resources to assist the youth and McIntosh High School.

Brother Reed was a graduate of McIntosh Union High School. He was an honored Veteran who served in the United States Army as an Army Clerk. He retired from Ciba Geigy as a Maintenance Supervisor after 38 years of employment. He was the first African American employed by Ciba Geigy as a Supervisor. He served on the Washington County Board of the American Red Cross, and he and his children shared a love for Alabama football.

He was preceded in death by his blessed parents, Mr. T.C. Reed, Sr. and Mrs. Claudia Mae Reed; a loving son, T.C. Reed, III; a precious grandson, Jaiveyon Reed; a devoted sister, Teacher Eddie Mae (Charlie) Whisenhunt; a devoted grandmother, Mother Sadie Thomas; and a precious father and mother-in-law, Mr. James and Retha Bettis.

Brother Reed leaves to cherish his memories his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Sister Carrie D. Reed of McIntosh, AL; three sons: Dwight V. Amion Antwan Reed, a beloved son, brother and friend, was born February 27, 2002 to Aaron Warren Reed, Jr. and Amy Reed. He passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026.

Amion was a lifelong resident of Mclntosh, Alabama. He attended Mclntosh High School and he was a proud graduate of the Class of 2020.

Amion enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing video games.

He was preceded in death by his father, Aaron Warren Reed, Jr.; and his grandparents, Ray Williams and Mary Edna Williams.

Thomas Snowden was born on October 16, 1931 to the late Scott Manuel and Daisy Mae Dixon. He peacefully departed his earthly life on Sunday, January 4, 2026.

He was an average hunter and loved to fish and play baseball.

At an early age, he met and married his wife, Elvinia Snowden. To that union eleven children were born. They had eight sons and three daughters: Thomas, (Mary) Snowden - deceased, Alexander (Nick) Snowden - deceased, Scott Snowden – deceased, Eugene Snowden, Alton Snowden – deceased, Woodrow Snowden, Nathaniel Snowden, Hank Wayne (Jackie - deceased) Snowden, Daisy Snowden, Mary (Yeishaka) Baonga and Delois Snowden.

He later moved to Detroit Michigan and worked for Ford Motor Company until he retired following more than thirty years. Following retirement, he relocated to Frankville with his children, where they took on as his caretakers until his health failed.

Left to cherish his memories are siblings, Daisy Snowden of Frankville, Mary (Yeishaka) Baonga of San Antonio, Texas, Eugene Snowden, Nathaniel Snowden and Hank Snowden, all of Frankville, Woodrow Snowden of Jackson, and Delois Snowden of Greensboro, North Caroline; one daughter-in-law, Mary Snowden of Detroit, Michigan; two sister figures, Mother Crezel Sellers of Jackson and Edna Mae Dixon of Frankville; twenty-four grandchildren and forty-nine great grandchildren, with a host of close friends and cousins.

Dana Marquita Boman departed this life at Ochsner Choctaw General on December 29, 2025. She was born on October 3, 1984 to Naomi Boman and Cleveland Roberria Garner.

A member of the Washington County High School Class of 2003, she continued her education at Alabama Southern Community College (AKA Coastal Alabama Community College) where she earned her cosmetology degree, as well as obtaining her CDL. She was truly a dedicated bus driver for the Choctaw County Board of Education and an outstanding beautician. Her greatest dedication was toward the children.

Dana united with the Mt. Bethel Baptist Church at an early age.

She leaves to cherish her memories her long-life partner of 19 years, Rayshawn Foster; mother, Naomi Boman; father, Cleveland Roberria (Minister JoAnne) Garner; mother-in-love, Pearl Foster; one sister, Tammy B. Martha Franks Bishop was born September 23, 1932 to the parentage of Estus and Ezella Lockhart in State Line, Mississippi. She departed this life for eternity Saturday. December 27, 2025 in Mobile, Alabama.

Martha accepted Christ at an early age and united with Mt. Mariah Missionary Baptist Church in State Line.

Later in life, she married Nathaniel Franks, Sr. They lived in various locations throughout Mississippi and Alabama. They relocated to Chatom, AL in the early '60s and united with Lilly Grove Baptist Church.

As a faithful member of Lilly Grove, Mother Bishop served in many capacities until her health failed. She served faithfully as Mother of the Church, member of the Golden Agers, and served as Church Secretary, Mission President, choir member, Adult Sunday School Teacher, Certified Instructor/Blandon Springs Baptist Association BTU Congress, and Evangelistic Counselor for Lilly Grove Evangelism Committee.

Mother Bishop was also a foster parent for the Washington Department of Human Resources for a number of years, as well as a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, St. Stephens Alabama Branch.

Mother Bishop was employed as a cook at Taylor Motel & Restaurant in Chatom for a number of years. Later, she was employed as a sewing machine operator with CAM Corporation, eventually becoming a supervisor, she worked there until retirement.

Upon retirement, she added a sewing room to her home. With her Singer Sewing Machines, she designed, altered and mended many a garment for the community and surrounding area.

Mother Bishop was an excellent cook and hostess. Her signature dishes were German chocolate, chocolate layer and pound cakes, chicken dressing and dumplings. She loved to invite people to her home to enjoy a delicious meal.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Estus and Ezella Lockhart; seven brothers: Joe, Samuel, L.D., Richard, Melvin, Amos and Howard Lockhart; three sisters: Opal Franks, Delma Dockery and Doris Leverett; children: Nathaniel Jr., James and Jonathan Franks and Ella F. Woodard.

Mother Bishop leaves to cherish her legacy and precious memories, her sister, Elouise Walley of State Line, MS; daughter, Evelyn (Earnest, Sr.) Moore, St. Stephens, AL; daughter-in-law, Francil Franks of Spencer, OK; grandchildren: Howard Donaldson, Earnest, Jr., Terrence (Donna) and Brandon (Nicole) Moore, Tameka Hughley and Jonathan Franks; great-grandchildren: Isiah and Alicia Donaldson, Jacob (Amia) and Braxton Moore, Mykelle and Jonathan Hughley, Addison and Alia Franks, and Leyla Moore; sister-in-law, Ann Franks; brothers-in-law: Johnnie, Anthony and Timothy Franks; honorary children: Pastor Henry (Sonia) Pough, Sr., Matonya Philon and George Rhodes; a host of neices, nephews, other relatives and friends and caregivers: LaRhonda Donaldson, Janice Kennon, Clara Morris and Pamela Harris.

Curlee “Big Poppa” Spencer Jr. was born Jan. 19, 1949 to the late Annie Gertrude Spencer and Curlee Spencer Sr. in Coy.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Curlee Spencer Sr. and Annie Spencer; grandparents, James Spencer and Clara Spencer, and Lillie Blount and Arthur Mitchell; and brother, Henry Spencer Sr.

Curlee, affectionately called “Big Poppa” by loved ones, graduated from Rosa A. Lott, Class of 1966. He attended Alcorn State University, where he played baseball. Curlee worked side-by-side with his father at Barry Steam Plant in Bucks. He worked in the Boise Cascade sawmill in Jackson and later retired from Hosea Weaver and Sons in Mobile.

Curlee enjoyed dancing, playing and coaching baseball and softball, listening to music and spending time with his family and friends. He had a hobby for the love of fast, loud cars and trucks. He was a fan of Auburn’s “War Eagle.”
