💧 Our local rate: $0.017/gallon
🐄 Our January usage: 23,800 gallons (both farms)

That’s:
• $119 at their price
• $404 at ours

Same water.
Same cows.
$285 difference in ONE month.

And somehow… our usage always lands on perfect even numbers 🤔😏

It’s brutally cold, windy, and miserable… but Julian?
Eyes wide open.
Ears perked up.
Milk belly full.

All signs of a happy, healthy calf—even if the humans are questioning their breeding decisions.

This is why we do it.

Snowmageddon is on the way ❄️ and it was 7° at daylight, but Julian is thriving—guarded by the old girls who’ve seen every winter Ohio can throw at them.

Julian was bred specifically for Mason as his 4-H project, and he’s the only baby on the farm right now — which means he’s getting the VIP treatment from the herd elders.

We’ll be up late tonight and early tomorrow, checking, feeding, and making sure everyone is safe and comfortable.

Cold nights. Strong cattle.

Update on our new baby calf, Julian.
He’s doing well! He and mom are still nestled together in the barn, warm, cozy, and right where they belong.

We welcomed a new baby calf today!
Julian, named by Mason!❤️
He arrived just in time to help us ring in the New Year. Momma wasn’t allowing him to nurse, so we stepped in to make sure he got colostrum, warm bedding, and the care he needed. He’s doing well so far, and we’re hoping tonight brings some quiet bonding time for him and momma in the barn. Grateful to start the New Year with new life on the farm.

Happy Sunday from the farm. It’s a chilly 8° out, but cows still need tended to. The boys and I are out making the rounds—checking bunks, busting ice, and making sure all of our bovine friends have plenty to eat and thawed water.
