NEW Evening Enrichment: Learning to Drive With Autism
Presented by: Rachel Duncan - Courtesy Driving School
March 25th, 6pm-7pm, Virtual.

Learning to drive is a powerful step toward independence. For many autistic and neurodivergent individuals, the journey to becoming a licensed driver can look different than it does for neurotypical teens. That’s why flexible, individualized instruction and supportive services are so important. Join us for this Evening Enrichment session, presented by Rachel Duncan of Courtesy Driving School, as we explore:
- Differences of learning to drive with Neurodivergency
- The adult driver licensing process in Michigan
- Options for professional driving instruction
- Available funding supports
Rachel began her career in 1992 supporting students and adults with special needs. She became a Certified Driving Instructor in 1998 and a Driver Rehabilitation Specialist in 2000. Rachel founded Excel Driving School, the first driving school in Michigan dedicated exclusively to teenagers and young adults with cognitive disabilities, autism, and mobility limitations. Excel became known for its individualized instruction, adaptive teaching strategies, and commitment to helping students achieve independence through safe, confident driving.
In the years since, Rachel has continued to contribute to the driver education field by working with several local driving schools as both an instructor and a program development manager. She currently works with Courtesy Driving School as an instructor and new‑business developer, where she applies her expertise in curriculum design, specialized instruction, and program innovation.
With more than 30 years of experience, Rachel is a dedicated advocate for expanding access, improving instructional quality, and empowering students with disabilities to achieve safe, independent mobility.
