Sutter Amador Hospital's rich history of providing care for residents of Amador County dates back as far as 1876. Today, the community based, not-for-profit Sutter Amador Hospital has 52 licensed beds and is the only hospital in Amador County serving a population of more than 40,000. Sutter Amador Hospital became an affiliate of Sutter Health in 1993. The hospital is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. As a result of the area's growth, changes in the way health care is delivered and advances in medical technology, a new hospital was constructed and opened in April 2000. In February 2007, the adjacent 48,000 square foot outpatient facility opened allowing us to further expand our services and, at the same time, provide a full continuum of acute inpatient and outpatient services in one easy accessible location. As a locally governed hospital, we are able to identify and invest in local needs. At the same time, our patients benefit from our affiliation with Sutter Health because we are able to share clinical resources and expertise with more than 3,400 doctors and 25 hospitals throughout Northern California. Together, we're working to improve the health of our communities.
