Keep the child’s environment dust-free and avoid letting anyone who is sick visit or provide care.
Perform regular skin checks to prevent breakdown around devices, tubes, and pressure points.

💨 3. Respiratory Care Tips (Trach/Vent Kids)
Suction only when needed—look for signs such as increased work of breathing, gurgling sounds, coughing, or desaturation.
Always check that humidification systems are filled and working to prevent thick secretions.
Change trach ties regularly or when soiled, ensuring the trach remains secure.
Have a fully stocked emergency trach bag at bedside and another by the door for transport.
Monitor for:
Increased secretions or plugging
Redness or drainage around the stoma
Difficulty breathing or agitation
