Look at these roots on this sweet potato slip! 🌿Now listen👂🏽this slip wasn’t from the potato we put in water on Monday. This one actually came from a previous sweet potato I stuck in soil months ago to grow slips. But here’s the good part: whether you use water or soil the process is the same and you’ll get the same healthy slips. Here’s what you do:Once your sweet potato slips grow to about 4–6 inches long, you can gently cut or twist them off the potato. Then place those slips in water and they’ll start growing their own roots just like this one. When those roots reach about 1–2 inches long, your slips are officially ready for soil. You can plant them in containers, buckets, grow bags or right in the garden. And yes ! Yes you can grow them indoors!Starting your slips early is a great way to get ahead if the weather in your zone isn’t warm enough for sweet potatoes yet. And if you just want to grow them inside, that’s perfectly fine too. 🍠🌱
