MESSAGE ‼️Before reading, please do your own research.
Hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) has been going around — especially here in Tennessee, affecting dozens of schools in Shelby County, including the Memphis area.
HFMD is most common in children under 5 years old, according to the CDC. Most people experience mild symptoms lasting about 7–10 days such as:
• Fever
• Sore throat
• Painful mouth sores or blisters
• Rash on the hands and feet
It’s very contagious and can spread through:
• Coughing, sneezing, or talking
• Touching contaminated surfaces or objects
• Fluid from blisters
• F***s
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE WASH YOUR HANDS washing hands often (at least 20 seconds), helping children do the same, disinfecting commonly touched surfaces, and avoiding close contact with anyone who’s sick.
There’s currently no specific treatment for HFMD — most people recover on their own. The key is rest, hydration, and symptom relief.
For families looking to support the body naturally, here are a few ways you can help ease discomfort and boost immunity:
• Antiviral herbs: oregano, rosemary, astragalus root, lemon basil, garlic, echinacea
• Soothing bath: try a colloidal oatmeal bath — you can add gentle herbs or ingredients for extra relief
• Moisturizing oils: mix jojoba or castor oil with a few drops of tea tree oil, or use a gentle calendula-infused oil to calm and protect the skin
