🎺 Happy Mardi Gras!

There's something magical about New Orleans—where music isn't just entertainment, it's the soul of the entire city. From jazz clubs to street corner brass bands, the music is the city's heartbeat and connects the community.

Our founder Jaime visited New Orleans during Mardi Gras and the experience was transformative. Witnessing how deeply music is woven into their cultural identity, healing, and everyday life inspired her to think about ways to bring this vitality back to Jackson, Michigan.

🚐 Does an easy and FREE outing for your family exist? Yes, it does!!

And, we understand that getting out the door with kids can feel like a whole thing.

Dinner. Transitions. Big feelings. Wondering if it’s even worth trying to go somewhere. Every parent feels this way.

That’s why The Village Collective is built the way it is.

Kids don’t have to participate.
They don’t have to play the games.
They don’t have to talk to anyone.

Watching counts. Sitting with you counts. Taking breaks counts. And the same goes for the adults in the room!

Wednesday, February 25th
5 - 7 p.m.
Jackson First United Methodist Church (Downtown)

We’ll have games out, space for kids to move or not move, a free meal, and volunteers in the family room so parents can breathe a little.

✂️ What happens when the funding disappears but the family's needs haven't gone away?

In late 2025, funding for Early On music therapy groups ended as part of broader statewide cuts to early childhood services. For families, this wasn’t just a budget change. These classes offer steady connection during a critical window of development for their children.

The program could have quietly come to an end, but instead, a local partner stepped in offering hope. Curiousity led to the realization of shared values: ethical care and community responsibility. That connection set the stage for what came next; a story worth reading in full!

Big kid energy belongs here! If your child is loud, busy, always moving - or struggles with impulse control - you’re not alone.

Music classes give kids a place to move freely, express themselves fully, and regulate together, while practicing key social skills in real time. Our early childhood programs are built for real kids so they can learn how to participate, listen, and belong.

We have four upcoming spring class options for families:

Harmony Garden Sprouts (Birth–5)
• Movement-rich music classes supporting turn-taking, listening, and social connection.
• $160 or $80/month
• EcoSphere Scholarships available

Generations in Harmony (FREE Intergenerational Music)
• High-energy, joyful music-making with kids, caregivers, and older adults.
• $10 enrollment fee

Singing for Speech
• Music therapy that helps kids communicate, regulate, and connect
• Especially helpful when traditional approaches feel slow.

Early On Sprouts (FREE)
• For families enrolled in Early On services
• Providing music therapy support during critical developmental windows.

💔 If the world feels heavy to you right now, you are not alone. We feel it too.

You should not have to carry this weight all by yourself, none of us should! If moms and families could just step out from behind screens to share their real-life struggles, it would make it all feel lighter.

This is why The Village Collective of Jackson exists. It is an intentional space for meaningful connection and support to lift us all up.

📆 Meet us there on February 25th, and let's do this together! Tap here for event details: https://www.facebook.com/share/16movnxDnH/?mibextid=wwXIfr
