I have been in the healthcare field since 2008 and have always been interested in childbirth and neonatal care. I struggled for many years with my own infertility and went through many procedures and rounds of treatment. While 7 months pregnant with our 3rd and natural baby, in 2016, I attended a DONA Birthing Doula training class and immediately began my journey towards certification. Between nursing school, my own personal births and professional doula experiences, I have attended a dozen births to date. I have personal experiences with high risk pregnancies, preterm labor, pregnancy complications, pregnancy involving multiples, cesarean birth and VBAC delivery. Professionally, I have been a part of natural childbirth (no interventions or medications), first pregnancies, subsequent pregnancies, natural labors, inductions, VBAC births, vaginal births, and births with interventions (episiotomies, epidural, intravenous pain medications). My focus as a birthing doula is educating laboring mothers and support systems about the labor, birthing and postpartum processes. I encourage mothers and support systems to speak up for their desires. As a doula, I will be your “cheerleader” from the end of pregnancy through the beginning of your next steps into parenthood.
