In the quiet rhythm of the morning, contractions began—soft at first, then slowly unfolding into something more. By late morning, the air had shifted, and it was clear this baby would not wait long.

She moved through each wave with calm strength, held and supported by her entire family. Her daughter stayed close, and when she stepped into the tub, all of her children and her partner gathered around her. Just like her other births, this one happened in the very same place—water, familiar walls, and a space filled with love.

Time seemed to slow as we waited for baby to arrive. When the moment came, mama reached down, caught her baby, and lifted him into her arms. A sweet voice rang out with the announcement—it’s a boy.

The moments that followed were gentle and unhurried, wrapping everyone in warmth and peace. A full-circle birth, and one that will be held close 🤍

✨E L W O O D ✨

This baby boy loved playing games with us. After 42+ weeks of pregnancy, we used all of the tools in our toolbox to coax this little man out. It seemed he wasn’t interested in any of our techniques until one day he finally decided to make his appearance. We came to check in on mama a couple of times & during the evening check it seemed things were steadily chugging along but not quite ready yet for the birth team. When we decided to give this mama some space, her labor took a fast and furious turn & she was calling us back very shortly to let us know she was feeling the urge to push. Ironically after so many weeks of pregnancy, many days of natural labor encouragement & a relatively slow and steady cervical progression throughout the day, baby Elwood decided to come flying out in the last moments of this labor. We were still en route when he was born & we were able to coach mom & dad through gently lifting their baby to the surface of the water & hear them excitedly exclaim, “It’s a BOY!” We arrived moments later and helped with placenta & the sweetest, slow postpartum moments that followed. This mama’s oxytocin high after her whirlwind birth was contagious, what a ride with this awesome family! Your midwives love you baby Elwood 🩵

✨C O L B I E✨
This fourth baby was welcomed in the most tender, family-centered way. Labor began in the morning, with mom working through contractions alongside her youngest, then naturally moving to the tub as things picked up. Following her body and her instincts, she listened as the urge to push arrived.

Big sister was right there holding her mom’s hand in the tub, with dad close by. Just like her previous birth, mom moved from the tub to the bed, and only minutes later baby was born.

With a surprise gender, mom initially thought it was a boy—until she took a peek and joyfully shared it was a girl. This family is now beautifully balanced with two boys and two girls 🤍

Postpartum was just as sweet, with older siblings coming in and out to check on mom and baby sister, and big brother proudly helping weigh her.

The placenta 🤍
An organ grown by the mother, for the baby.

For nine months, this miraculous creation is home, nourishment, oxygen, protection. It pulses life through the umbilical cord, adapting day by day to meet this baby’s exact needs.

And then—when its sacred work is complete—it releases. Spontaneously. Gently. Knowing its job is done.

This placenta print sits beside this newborn as a reminder of the unseen magic of pregnancy and the wisdom of the woman’s body. Nothing random. Nothing wasted. Only design, devotion, and deep knowing.

✨ S E L A H ✨
This third baby did exactly what third babies do—she surprised us all. This was mama’s first girl, her longest pregnancy, and by far her fastest labor. In the weeks leading up to her arrival, baby began gently preparing mama’s body for her grand entrance, but she waited to make her debut until she was truly ready.

When the moment came, she made a swift decision to begin her journey and was born just a few short hours later—so quickly, in fact, that she didn’t wait for the midwife to arrive. She was born into the loving arms of her parents in the pool and was shortly after attended to by our team.

This sweet girl is already deeply loved by her parents and siblings, and we’re grateful she didn’t keep anyone waiting too long. 💗

When dad called, they weren’t sure if support was needed—but sensing things were moving quickly, we headed over. Mama was already in the pool, fully in her body and deeply focused as a fast, powerful labor unfolded. It was intense, fast and furious, and undeniably beautiful.

Her husband stood by her side with steady, tender support, holding space through every wave. With strength and presence, she reached down and caught her own baby—a moment layered with so much meaning after a pregnancy filled with courage, perseverance, and faith. Through every challenge, every hurdle, every reminder of how far she has come, she showed up strong and resilient.

Within minutes of a friend arriving, baby was born. 💫
We closed the night sharing date cake dad had made the day before—sweet, grounding, and a perfect ending to a birth marked by strength, love, and fulfillment.
