✨A N N I E✨
This sweet little girl made her grand entrance after weeks of prodromal labor. Mama had been on high alert, wondering when things would finally kick off for real. But when the time came, she knew it was the real deal. Her labor progressed in the best possible way and by the time we arrived, she found her rhythm and was ready for the birth tub set up in her cozy bedroom. With her loving husband by her side, offering so much love and encouragement, she beautifully navigated in an out of the waves. Baby was born in the birth tub, and she was her mama’s biggest baby yet! Her head full of beautiful hair was the icing on the cake! Your midwives are in awe and love you so much!

✨J A H R I✨
She swore she’d just peed herself — but her husband knew. His intuition kicked in, and he immediately started blowing up the birth tub and filling it with water. Up until then, she’d only been having one or two contractions an hour… but suddenly, three came back-to-back. He knew it was time.

That’s when we got the message: “HELP.”
I called her, and all she said was, “Baby is coming, come quick.”

By the time anyone arrived, baby had already made their grand entrance — even dad missed it because he’d stepped out to grab her a shirt (at her request, of course). In his words:

“I came back into the room and the baby was floating in the water.”

Their little one, Jaise, woke up just in time to join the celebration and soak in the magic that followed. 🌊✨

✨K O L T E R ✨

This beautiful boy was born to a first time mother at 42 weeks. Her labor came on quickly & progressed faster than any of us anticipated. When we arrived to her home she was already 8cm dilated and ready for the birth tub. She was laboring beautifully with the support of her husband, mother & mother in law & her doula. With some gentle coaching on breathing through the intensity of transition, she started pushing. After working harder than she’s ever worked in her life to push her son into the world, he was finally born, immediately surrounded in love. Witnessing a mother meeting her first baby never gets old 🙌🏽 your midwives love you baby Kolter ❤️

Meet Lizzy ✨
We’re so excited to welcome Elizabeth “Lizzy” Pahs, a senior midwifery student at the Florida School of Traditional Midwifery, to the Modern Midwives team!

A lifelong “crunchy” soul and former military kid, Lizzy brings experience from both holistic and emergency care — from volunteering in EMS to working as an ER tech at UF Health Jacksonville. She’s passionate about homebirth and supporting families through empowering, gentle care.

When she’s not catching babies, you’ll find her knitting, rock climbing (she says poorly 😄), or hanging with her cat, Henny.
She’s been a great addition to our team thus far and many of you have had a chance or two to meet her, but we wanted to give her the space she deserves to be introduced! Help us give her a warm welcome! 🤍

These casual family walks are for everyone — we plan them on days when dads, grandparents, and whoever else wants to be part of the fun can join too! ✨ H E N R Y ✨

The birth of Henry was so beautiful & hard won. This first time mama worked so hard through the day & night to meet her son. An initial labor check in early in the day told us she was still in the beginning of her journey. We returned late in the night & she was deep in labor land. Alongside her husband, we supported her through the night as she continued to labor, until she finally felt the strong urge to push. She dug so deep into her well of strength to bring her son into the world & before the sun rose she delivered him in the birth tub. We were amazed during the newborn exam when he weighed in at 9lb 14oz! We all marveled at her perfect chunky boy, such a prize after a long labor. We are so proud of this family, what an honor to walk alongside of them as their midwives ❤️

✨A U G U S T ✨

This first time mother gave birth to a surprise baby boy, in the comfort of her bedroom. She was surprised by how quickly her labor was unfolding when we arrived and discovered she was already 8cm dilated. With the support of her husband and her doula (@ Nicole Stewart) she worked through transition in the birth tub. Soon she started spontaneously pushing & even as she said she couldn’t do it, she pushed on and birthed her beautiful son. We are so proud of this sweet family, your midwives love you baby August🤍

For those who didn’t know, our Modern Midwives family is growing again! 🌿
Olivia, who has been our wonderful office manager for the past three years, will be stepping back as she prepares to welcome her third baby earthside this spring.

She’s not going far though — Olivia will continue leading groups, hosting events, and connecting our community in her new role as Community & Content Manager. We’re so grateful she’ll still be part of the Modern Midwives family for years to come! 💛
