Here are some foot care tips!
• Don't ignore foot pain. Persistent pain in the foot or ankle is not normal; contact our office.
• Inspect your feet regularly for changes in color, temperature, thick or discolored nails, cracks, cuts, peeling, or scaling. Any growth is abnormal.
• Wash your feet regularly, especially between toes, and dry completely.
• Trim toenails straight across, not too short. Avoid cutting nails in corners or sides to prevent ingrown toenails.
• Diabetics and those with poor circulation or heart problems should not treat their own feet.
• Ensure shoes fit properly. Buy shoes later in the day when feet are largest and replace worn-out shoes promptly.
• Wear appropriate shoes for each sport or activity.
• Alternate shoes; don’t wear the same pair every day.
• Avoid walking barefoot to prevent injury and infection.
• Use sunblock on feet at the beach or when wearing sandals.
• Be cautious with home remedies for foot ailments to avoid worsening the problem.
• Diabetics should contact our office for a check-up at least once a year.
