A thoracic aortic aneurysm happens when a section of the aorta in your chest weakens and begins to expand. If it becomes too large, it can rupture and lead to life-threatening complications. Symptoms may include hoarseness, trouble swallowing, or chest and back pain. Treatment depends on the aneurysm’s size and severity—some may require surgery, while others can be monitored.
