Yesterday - while working with one of my Marines, he asked if I had been to the beach lately.. I said no because the last time I went it was cold and felt like I was being “sand blasted” by the sand & the wind.. we both laughed! 😂😂
But then he told me that him & his little family had gone the night before just as it started to get dark and said it was BEAUTIFUL with the full moon!! ( The Beaver 🦫 Moon) ~ So I decided that I wanted to go!!… So off we went, Gunny & I 😊
As soon as we got on the beach and walked down to the water, I started looking for little shells & coral but instead I find a monarch butterfly wet and stuck under the muddy sand! His wings were heavily covered, so I tried removing some of it, but their wings are very delicate- so it took a bit of time & effort. I then placed him on a rock to steady himself and went on my way down the beach.
It was a beautiful evening , saw 2 marine helicopters fly over, a HUGE commercial fishing boat ( that was cool) actually never saw that in Onslow Beach before….. met a really nice young little family collecting sharks teeth too.
It was such a beautiful experience- made me smile, made me remember one of the reasons I came back to NC .. I LOVE the beach!
Tonight is the SUPER MOON.. I think I’m gonna go back with my beach chair and just gonna sit and enjoy the beauty of it ❤️
