This National Salute to Veteran Patients, Alivia Care, Inc. proudly highlights the impact of Community Hospice & Palliative Care’s veteran volunteer program, where veterans continue to serve one another through compassion and connection. Volunteer Maury Kimple shares his experience of giving back, while McKinley W. Wight, a 105-year-old U.S. Army Air Corps (U.S. Air Force) veteran and World War II hero, reflects on how much he enjoys spending time with Maury. Together, their conversation reminds us that service doesn’t end with the uniform, it lives on through friendship, presence, and purpose.

Mabel Keaton Staupers was a trailblazer who fought tirelessly to break down racial barriers in nursing at a time when segregation was deeply entrenched in healthcare.

Her advocacy opened doors for Black nurses in professional organizations, education, and military service, helping improve access to quality care for Black communities nationwide.

At Alivia Care, Inc., we honor leaders like Staupers whose courage and commitment continue to inspire more equitable, compassionate care across the communities we serve.
