Mabel Keaton Staupers was a trailblazer who fought tirelessly to break down racial barriers in nursing at a time when segregation was deeply entrenched in healthcare.

Her advocacy opened doors for Black nurses in professional organizations, education, and military service, helping improve access to quality care for Black communities nationwide.

We were honored to recognize McKinley W. Wight, a 105-year-old U.S. Army Air Corps (U.S. Air Force) veteran who bravely served during World War II, during a special Veteran Pinning Ceremony through Community Hospice & Palliative Care’s Veteran Program, a subsidiary of Alivia Care, Inc.

McKinley was pinned by Veteran Volunteer Maury Kimple and joined by Volunteer Coordinator Victoria Foster, who helped lead this meaningful moment of gratitude and recognition.

This free, one-day camp for ages 7–17 offers meaningful activities that promote connection, expression, and healthy coping skills during a difficult season of life.
