Private, in home speech therapy located in Avondale in Jacksonville, Florida Hi, I'm Carly, the owner of Neighborhood Therapy! I am truly so excited to be here!

I started my speech therapy career as an undergraduate student at the University of Central Florida, where I earned my Bachelors of science in Communications, Sciences & Disorders. I continued my education locally at Jacksonville University, where I earned my Masters of Science in Speech Language Pathology.

I am now a Florida Board Certified speech language pathologist. I have found passion in working with both children and adults, because I believe communication at any age is imperative to a fulfilled life. I have worked locally in Duval County Public Schools as a school based speech therapist, home health, and at assisted living facilities and skilled nursing facilities in town. I have experience with a wide variety of abilities- I have provided therapy at a Title 1 school where the students present with additional emotional needs and self contained classrooms with students who require specialized class settings to meet their needs.

I am an Avondale resident and truly love my neighborhood and community. I engage in park clean-ups regularly and can be often found supporting small businesses. I find the Riverside-Avondale-Murray Hill-Ortega pocket of town to be unique in its sense of belonging that it provides all of its residents. My hope is for Neighborhood Therapy to be part of the network of family owned, word of mouth recommended, small businesses that I personally love most about Jacksonville.

3️⃣ Learning in Action!
Using Visual Supports to Spark Executive Function and Cooperative Play in Preschoolers With DLD

Completed through the ASHA Learning Pass with Kara B. Corley, MS, CCC-SLP; Toby Loewenstein, MEd, MS, CCC-SLP; and Victoria Sharaga, MS, CCC-SLP. This course explored how visual supports—like video play models, static photos, and Play Plans—enhance executive function, cooperative play, and narrative skills for preschoolers with DLD.

Early Identification of Late Talkers

I completed this course through the ASHA Learning Pass with Carol Stoel-Gammon, PhD, and A. Lynn Williams, PhD, CCC-SLP! This session highlighted the importance of early identification for toddlers who may be late talkers, helping distinguish which children will “catch up” and which may need early intervention support.

I completed this ASHA Learning Pass webinar with Elizabeth Anne Rosenzweig, PhD, CCC-SLP, LSLS Cert. AVT! The course gave me strategies to maximize progress through family-centered early intervention, with a focus on multilingual families, children with multiple disabilities, and families experiencing trauma.

Exciting update! 🎉 Carly has accepted a new part-time position as a Clinical Facilitator for the Speech-Language Pathology program at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences! In this role, she’ll be mentoring graduate students during their clinical residencies and helping support the next generation of SLPs.

This position only requires a few days each trimester, so there will be plenty of time and focus remaining for our amazing clients at Neighborhood Therapy. 💙 We’re proud to bring this kind of academic and clinical leadership back into our work with families every day!
