3 Signs Instagram Caption
Many speech and language concerns show up in subtle ways first, not always as “my child isn’t talking.”
Here are 3 signs that may indicate your child could benefit from a speech evaluation:
• Frequent frustration during communication: When children can’t clearly express what they’re thinking, it often shows up as meltdowns, shutting down, or behavior challenges. Communication breakdowns are exhausting for little ones.
• Difficulty being understood by others: By age 3, unfamiliar listeners should understand about 75% of your child’s speech. If you’re regularly translating for teachers, grandparents, or friends, that’s worth exploring.
• Avoiding speaking in certain settings: If your child talks at home but becomes very quiet at school or around peers, it may relate to speech clarity, language processing, or confidence.
Early support does not mean something is “wrong.” It means we’re building strong communication skills while the brain is still highly adaptable (especially under age 5).
If you’re unsure, a speech evaluation can provide clarity, reassurance, and a clear next step, even if therapy isn’t needed.
You don’t have to wait until kindergarten to ask questions. 🤍
