We had a great time at the Florida Chapter of the American College of Cardiology held at Disney. Dani Beetler and Damian Di Florio presented a poster and I spoke at the new Translational Sciences session hosted by Katelyn Bruno, who is on the Program Committee and had introduced the idea of a Translational session to leadership. Great food, hotel and speakers!

So proud of Damian Di Florio, my PhD student. He passed his qualifying orals! Yay!!!

Last week the Mayo Clinic COVID-19 Convalescent Plasma program was funded $26 million to determine safety of giving plasma to those who are sick. We submitted first paper with results today! Stay tuned- My lab is directly involved, Katelyn at the center of the project runs a team and 2 other lab members work on project. It is so rewarding to be trying to help people recover in this crisis.

Go to USCOVIDplasma.org to see the convalescent sera project supported by the government to give life saving antibodies from people who have recovered from COVID-19 which is being coordinated by Mayo Clinic. I was asked to help build the database based on a registry for cardiovascular complications for COVID-19 that I wrote and Katelyn Bruno's amazing skills at REDCap were needed to build the forms. We've worked on it this week and it's just gone live. We will help with analysis also. We hope this therapy will save many, many lives!

Learn about an FDA-sponsored, Mayo Clinic-led expanded access treatment protocol using donated convalescent plasma to treat hospitalized COVID-19 patients.
