“I’m AFRAID!” - - - - - - -
I said in a recent interview when I was asked why I don’t Advertise.
In a world where noise often drowns substance, I chose a different path and stood my ground.
For over three decades, patients have traveled from across states and continents to find me despite my lack of active advertising, despite Jacksonville not being the easiest place to reach, and despite many patients gently urging me to move to Beverly Hills or New York for their ease of travel and reach.
Locally also, I’ve stepped away from every “Best in Jacksonville” or “Best in Florida” titles constantly offered to me and always directing such organizations to honor instead many colleagues in our community.
I have taken the tough road of letting my work speak and that too by showing patients unfiltered, on camera, in each and every surgery video as the height of accountability to share, teach, and inspire our colleagues and industry but have never believed in advertising, deals, technology hype, or social media theatrics, choosing instead to uphold the integrity and stature of our profession.
Many patients continue to tell me they spent months, and even years trying to find me and then come over for their vision restoration.
This constant chorus of voices is getting louder, and I feel their pain, it makes me reflect: If even one more person could find hope earlier… maybe I should advertise.
