After surgery, scar tissue can create internal adhesions that bind tissue layers together, limit movement, and lead to pain long after the area has healed. These adhesions pull on surrounding structures and create symptoms that don’t always seem connected to the original surgery.
When adhesions are being mechanically altered, you’ll feel more range of motion, less restriction, and a sense of “freeness” in the movement that wasn’t there before.
This client has was able to increase her range of motion with each treatment pass, creating more space in an area that is tight and restricted due to surgical scarring.
We increased her ROM by 1” in one session, taking her from 25% ROM to 33% on her left side with 3 treatment passes.
