Did you know that they are vegetarians, native to North America, create impressive underground burrows with multiple "rooms," and can sometimes hibernate up to six months? As long as Punxsutawney Phil predicts a short winter, we'll all be happy!

Elaina L. DelRossi

It is with profound sadness, especially to her husband and best friend, David DelRossi, that we announce the passing of Elaina Louise (Kersevich) DelRossi, age 76, of Dublin, New Hampshire. Elaina passed away in David’s arms on January 24th, after a prolonged six-year battle with Lewy Body Dementia Parkinson’s Disease. David diligently and lovingly cared for Elaina during every phase of this disease, only leaving her side to perform necessary household errands.

Elaina was born in Peterborough, New Hampshire on June 16th, 1949, to Olivette Fabiola (Dione) Kersevich and Frank Kersevich. She attended Jaffery Public Schools, and after graduating from Conant High School in 1967, Elaina attended Merrimack College in Andover, Massachusetts. She graduated in 1971 with a BS in mathematics, and a minor in music…. The latter being her passion.

Thus begins the story of Elaina’s career and the "Love Story of a Lifetime." Following her college graduation, Elaina made plans to join friends traveling in Europe. Learning through the 'Jaffrey grapevine' that an acquaintance, David DelRossi, had plans to visit his brother, Michael, stationed in Weisbaden, Germany, and not wanting to fly alone, Elaina contacted David to see if he would agree to coordinate their departure dates. Something magical happened on that seven-hour flight from Boston to Frankfurt, Germany for although they visited brother, Michael and his wife, Elaina never did meet up with her friends. She and David traveled throughout Europe together and subsequently obtained jobs in Frankfurt at the IG Farben building Officer's Club as wait staff. After eight months in Europe, David and Elaina returned to Jaffrey, announcing to their parents that they were planning to live together….to which David’s mother, Mary, Matriarch of the DelRossi clan announced, “I guess you won’t be coming to Sunday dinner” ….they were married shortly thereafter on May 6th, 1972.

David is fond of saying that the serendipitous plane flight with Elaina was the longest first date he ever had. David and Elaina subsequently returned to Europe, first landing in Ireland and then making their way to Devon County in the southwest of England where they worked at the Gara Rock Hotel in Salcombe. This experience helped to prepare them for their various enterprises to follow.

Both industrious and innovative, and possessing an entrepreneurial spirit, David and Elaina returned home once again, and opened their first business, “The Corner Kitchen,” housed in the old Jaffrey jail. Together they ran this small, but successful breakfast and lunch restaurant for four years, but much to the dismay of local residents, they closed the Corner Kitchen to pursue their love of music. This was the beginning of a long and prosperous enterprise known as, “Fiddlers Choice Music.” Here Elaina was able to share her love of music through teaching and performing. She became a well-known and sought after violin teacher throughout the Monadnock Region, and a mentor and inspiration to her many young students. Through her twice-yearly recitals, her students gained confidence in performing and further honed their skills with the violin. Elaina also became interested in violin repair and took several courses to become proficient in that skill, adding an additional service offered at the music shop. Elaina herself, like her students, found joy in performing and playing a variety of instruments. Along with David, also blessed with musical talents, prompted this duo to start their own band, which they named, “No Time Flat.” Elaina’s favorite T-shirt said it all, “Don’t Just Stand There….SING!”

In 1987 David and Elaina purchased an old farmhouse in Dublin, and commenced a two year renovation project, while simultaneously running the music store in Jaffrey….two years later, Fiddlers Choice Music was moved to the second floor of the farmhouse, while the first floor became their newest enterprise, DelRossi’s Trattoria. Unlike their other enterprises, the Trattoria required a significant staff, and even Mary, the DelRossi Matriarch was put to work as a hostess. With David in the kitchen, it left Elaina with the job of managing wait staff and all that goes with keeping the customers happy. Her acumen with mathematics also came in very handy.

Over time, DelRossi’s Trattoria became known for the best Italian food far and wide, and a great venue for bluegrass music. Both Elaina’s musical talents and management skills contributed greatly to the success of this last endeavor. As in the music store, Elaina was dearly beloved, and a great mentor, especially to many of the younger staff.

Elaina Louise DelRossi was a woman of substance in many matters beyond her music and mathematical abilities. She was an accomplished athlete traveling to Alaska at the age of 50 to run a marathon in support of a young relative who passed away from Leukemia. She was a lover of cats, art, travel, adventure, and was deeply spiritual. She could not wait to observe the next full moon, no matter the weather. She loved a good time, a good party, and her family and friends. Elaina could handle any situation, including firing David’s mother, Mary, as hostess because she could not turn down a reservation, even when the restaurant had a full house with a waiting list.

Best of all, Elaina was a loving and supportive wife to David for 54 years, and she was the love of his life.

Family and friends are invited to calling hours from 4:00PM to 6:00PM on Friday, February 6, 2026, at Cournoyer Funeral Home, 33 River St, Jaffrey, NH 03452.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 11:00AM at Saint Patrick Church, 89 Main Street, Jaffrey, NH 03452. Rev. Wilfred Deschamps, Pastor, will be the Celebrant.

Dorothy R. Bacon

Dorothy (Ridley) Bacon passed away on January 7th at her home with her family by her side. She was the devoted wife of Kendall (Ken) Bacon, the cherished mother of Francis Bacon (Sarah) of Boxborough, Massachusetts and Christine Bacon of Gothenburg, Sweden. Dorothy was a proud grandmother to Ryan Bacon, Kyle Bacon, and Mia Romero. She was affectionately known as “Dotty” to her many friends and colleagues.

Dorothy was born on June 5, 1941, in Ripon, North Yorkshire, England to Dorothy and William Ridley. Her father was an officer in the Royal Air Force during World War II and the family moved several times due to his service. After the war, she, her mother Dorothy, and sisters, Margaret and Elizabeth, joined her father in India, where he helped with the transfer of governance from England to the new Republic of India. When she was old enough, Dorothy attended a boarding school near her grandfather’s home in Jersey, one of the Channel Islands between England and France.

At age 12, Dorothy and her family immigrated to the United States, settling in Fairfield, Connecticut. She attended Havergal, a private girl’s school in Toronto, Canada, and then went on to Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts, where she was awarded a BA in History.

While on a ski trip with her roommate to the Sugarloaf Ski area in Maine, she met Ken – the love of her life. They were happily married for 60 wonderful years, living in Jamaica Plain and Newton, Massachusetts before moving to Jaffrey, New Hampshire. There they restored an antique home and spent many happy years raising their son and daughter, and being an active part of town activities and organizations.

Dorothy began her career as a teacher in Avon, Massachusetts. After moving to Jaffrey, she taught at Saint Patrick’s School and the Jaffrey Grade School for several years. In the early 1980s, she made a major career shift by becoming a real estate agent, first with Despres & Associates, and then with Tieger Realty. She was honored to have been awarded the “Realtor of the Year” by the Contoocook Valley Board of Realtors in 2014.

Dorothy was a dedicated member of the United Church of Jaffrey for many years, serving as Moderator and Deacon, and as a member of Triple D, the group that sponsored the Christmas fair, Strawberry festival, and other cherished events. In earlier years, she organized a house tour during the Christmas fair, which was a must-attend event for many.

As a long-term member of the Jaffrey Women’s Club, Dorothy served several terms as president, and as head of the scholarship committee that awarded scholarships to deserving Conant High School students. She was active in other groups including the Jaffrey Democrats and the Bridges for Peace, which exchanged representatives between New Hampshire and the Baltic countries. She was part of a group that visited Estonia and, in turn, hosted a woman from Estonia.

Dorothy was an avid tennis player, and as a member of The Racquet Club of Keene, she played competitive tennis on the women’s team circuit. She also enjoyed skiing with family and friends for many years.

Most importantly, Dorothy was the bedrock of her family, bringing everyone together as often as possible, especially hosting at their beloved family lake house, Hillcrest, in Harrisville, New Hampshire. She is the reason the extended family remains close. As a wife and mother, her love was freely given - even when it meant riding an icy chairlift at a ski area, or standing on the sidelines watching one of her children’s games. Her kindness and generosity were felt by all: relatives, friends, and colleagues alike. For Dorothy, life was a joy, especially when it involved those she loved.

She was a beloved aunt to her nieces and nephews: Jean Biggs (Portland, OR), Crista Cheap (San Rafael, CA), Jaclyn Headings (Keene, NH), Zach Houle (Wellesley, MA), Josh Houle (Westmoreland, NH), Ben Mills (Highland, NY), and Rich Mills (Sydney, Australia). She also leaves her brother-in-law Richard Mills of Keene, NH. She was predeceased by her parents and sisters.

There will be a Memorial Service and Celebration of her Life on April 11, 2026, at 11:00AM at the United Church of Jaffrey, 54 Main St, Jaffrey, NH.

In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, donations may be made in Dorothy’s memory to the United Church of Jaffrey.

Jonathan 'Jon' Flagg

Jonathan G. Flagg, 73, a lifelong resident of Rindge, passed away on Monday, January 26, 2026, in the comfort of his home with his family by his side after a courageous battle with Pancreatic cancer.

‘Jon’ was born in Winchendon, MA on September 6, 1952, a son of the late Sydney R. and Dorothy A. (Gates) Flagg. He was educated locally and graduated with the Class of 1972 from Conant High School in Jaffrey.

Jon’s roots have always been in Rindge, he worked for the Town’s Highway Department as an Equipment Operator for 3 years before taking that experience with him to the State of NH DOT. Through his 35 years there, Jon rose through the ranks with the State, from working as a laborer, a grader operator, truck driver, assistant patrolman, and finally retiring as patrolman in 2008. While working locally, he was also able to fulfill his desire to help neighbors in need by volunteering with the Rindge Fire Department and the Meadowood County Area Fire Department in Fitzwilliam. He had served as a Forest Fire Warden for 25 years and had served as Deputy Chief and Interim Chief for the Town of Rindge, from 1998 to 2000.

In 1991, he started Jon’s Tractor Service, while also helping his friend George Peck with his construction business. Jon continued his own business doing landscaping, gardening, excavation, trucking material, mowing fields, and rototilling gardens in the area right up until his illness prevented him from working.

He always enjoyed his Mack Trucks and heavy construction equipment, and after his retirement was able to continue plowing and salting the roads as a hired contractor for NH DOT. People who knew Jon recognized when his excitement was growing just before a big Nor’easter was forecast to arrive. During his ‘retirement’, Jon had also served as the Road Agent for the Town of Sharon from 2011 to 2016

If you asked Jon, he would always say his greatest accomplishments were his loving family and Jon’s Tractor Service. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 47 years, Diane L. Flagg of Rindge, his two daughters, Kathy L. Flagg and Linda M. Flagg, both of Rindge, his sister, Susan Frederickson Collis of Bradenton, FL, one grandchild, a niece, a nephew, and many cousins and close friends, as well as his beloved cat Jack.

Family and friends are warmly invited to Calling Hours on Friday, January 30, 2026, from 2:00PM to 4:00PM at the Cournoyer Funeral Home, 33 River Street, Jaffrey, NH 03452.

A Fire Department Walkthrough will take place on Saturday, January 31, 2026, beginning at 1:30PM in the Rindge Congregational Church, 6 Payson Hill Road, Rindge, NH 03461. Jon’s Funeral Service will take place in the church immediately following the walkthrough.

In lieu of flowers, and because of the winter conditions, please consider making a memorial contribution in Jon’s name to either the Jaffrey-Rindge Memorial Ambulance, PO Box 107, Jaffrey, NH 03452, or to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, Inc. Melba Ruth Loudin

Melba Ruth Loudin—“Ruth” to everyone who loved her—passed away peacefully at home in the early morning hours of January 19, 2026, surrounded by family. She was 92. Born on September 20, 1933, in the beautiful state of West Virginia, Ruth carried the mountains in her heart all her life, delighting friends and family with stories from her beloved home state.

Ruth lived an active, wholehearted life. She found joy in simple, steady rhythms—long walks, a good book, and a fresh poem to tuck into memory. She volunteered after school with the Good News Club, sharing kindness, patience, and faithful encouragement with children and families. Over the years she worked in roles that reflected her servant’s heart: as a diner server, a nursing home aide, and in housekeeping for two school districts. Whatever the job, Ruth brought dignity, care, and a ready smile.

Family was her happiest place. She loved gathering everyone close, often hosting grand and great‑grandchildren with a plate of treats and a new adventure to imagine. Ruth had a gift for wonder; she wove tales of fairies with the ease of a born storyteller and kept a tiny vial of “fairy dust” in her purse—just in case a little extra magic was needed. She lived by the Golden Rule, and it showed in every gentle word and helping hand.

Her faith in the Lord was the quiet, steady thread of her days. Ruth remained active in her church for many years, and even as her health made attendance harder, her prayers, hymns, and hope never waned. She loved reading, history, poetry, and music across many genres and decades—her soundtrack as varied and welcoming as the life she lived.

Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Samuel Loudin, four brothers, and three sisters. She is survived by her children Carol Loudin, Patrick Loudin, Elizabeth Indano, and Lorne Loudin, as well as several grandchildren and great‑grandchildren who will carry forward her stories, her songs, and her sparkle.

Today we rejoice that Ruth is with the Lord, free from pain and disease. We miss her deeply, but we look forward to the day we’re reunited with her—and with Dad—again. Until then, her love lives among us and within all who knew her.

We are unable to have services at this time; however a Graveside Service is scheduled for Ruth on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 11:00 AM in Conant Cemetery, Stratton Road, Jaffrey, NH 03452. Flowers will be most appreciated.
