Jamesburg First Aid Squad

Jamesburg First Aid Squad Established in 1937, the Jamesburg First Aid Squad (JFAS) has served the community for 83 years. Volunteers are always needed and very appreciated!

After 75+ year of service the Borough of Jamesburg and surrounding communities the squads service was no longer deemed fit for the borough by the town. Within the past 10 years the Jamesburg First Aid Squad had asked the town for assistance on multiple levels, with no success the volunteers could not suffice an efficient and effective squad consistently. The Jamesburg First Aid Squad/ Jamesburg Municipal Ambulance Service is no longer being dispatched under town order and faces extinction. It is not clear which BLS provider will now cover the Borough, however we are confident in our mutual aid partners (Monroe Township and Spotswood EMS) to help answer the 911 emergencies until a new BLS contract is agreed upon. We appreciate all the support throughout the years and we wanted to do more, however with no financial support or administrative support the Jamesburg First Aid Squad is now no longer responding to emergencies in town, the ambulance can standby and be ready when asked too, however the town has decided to no longer dispatch the squad. We will continue to do our best and work with the town to keep the organization alive and there may be a brighter future ahead. For now, more then ever we ask the residents to voice their opinion to help our organization and the Borough to decide on how to proceed. Thank you again!

Portable Generator Safety Tips🔌

Portable generators can be very helpful during power outages such as the ones we're experiencing from Tropical Storm Isaias.

⚠️It is imperative that the public follow the below safety guidelines to use generators properly and safely:

• NEVER operate a generator INSIDE your home or in other enclosed or partially-enclosed spaces, including GARAGES
• A generator is a TEMPORARY power source and should never be used as a permanent solution
• NEVER connect generators directly to household wiring without first installing a TRANSFER SWITCH. This prevents backfeeding which could electrocute utility workers making repairs
• Make sure your generator is properly grounded and used with a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI)
• Use only extension cords that have a THREE-PRONGED plug and are rated for the intended load
• Do NOT OVERLOAD the generator
• The Consumer Product Safety Commission recommends generators be positioned at least 20 FEET from doors, windows, and vents to prevent CO from entering the home

👉For additional information visit https://bit.ly/30qScO8.

🏴‍☠️If you suspect CO poisoning, take IMMEDIATE action:
1. If someone is unconscious or unresponsive, get him or her out of the house and call 9-1-1 immediately.
2. Exit the house/building immediately. Do not waste time opening windows. This will delay your escape and cause you to breathe in even more dangerous fumes.
3. Contact your local fire department/energy provider.
4. Call the New Jersey Poison Control Center at 1-800-222-1222 for immediate treatment advice. Do not waste time looking for information on the internet about carbon monoxide poisoning. Call them for fast, free and accurate information.
