Over the next few days, we are going to see a whole lot of people resolving to make drastic changes to themselves or their lives. Perhaps in 2026 we can consider the parts of us we want to keep, embrace, highlight, shine a bit brighter?

To laugh more, sing louder, collect more rocks (or whatever makes you happy), allow ourselves to not only see but enjoy the glimmers, to heal so intentionally that we have even more capacity for peace and joy.

Do you minimize your thoughts? A little self validation can help neutralize that internal response.

Winter. Some love it. Others ... not so much. If you are in the latter camp, just know that you're not alone. If you don't enjoy outdoor winter activities, it's OK to stay inside. If you hate driving in snow, it's OK to visit friends virtually, switch to telehealth when available, and have groceries delivered. If this season requires you to slow down, it's OK to s.l.o.w. d.o.w.n.

Healing is careful work. Rest and self compassion are important ways you can care for your mind and body in this season.

Overdose Spike Alert: Wednesday, December 3, 2025

Over the past two (2) days, there has been an increase in drug overdoses. This is *above* the normal rate and indicates there may be very strong opioids or other drugs mixed in the local drug supply.

What You Can Do:

Please alert anyone you know who uses drugs to follow these safer use guidelines:
• Do not use alone or call the Never Use Alone Hotline: 1-800-484-3731
• Have NARCAN® nearby
• Use fentanyl test strips

(1) If you think someone is overdosing, call or text 911.

(2) If they are unresponsive, have slow or stopped breathing, are snoring or gurgling, feel cold or clammy or have discolored lips or fingertips, administer NARCAN. Wait two to three minutes before administering a second dose.

(3) If there is no pulse and they are not breathing, give a rescue breath and begin chest compressions.

(4) If they are breathing normally but still unconscious, place them on their side in the recovery position and wait with them until EMS arrives.
• Roll the unconscious person onto their side
• Use their hand to support the head
• Position knee at a right angle to keep them from rolling onto back or stomach

Resources:

• Hope Kits/Leave Behind Kits are available from local first responders. If your agency needs additional kits, contact Rock County Public Health: (608) 757-5440. Additional resources are on our website.

Ian started with us a couple weeks ago and has been very busy setting up our office in Madison! Ian has openings in Madison or virtually! Check out his bio below:

As a queer/gay white man with ADHD, it’s my passion to work with those who need a hand. Collaboratively, we will create goals and move through them together. I strive to create an open space where you feel comfortable asking about every step of the process. This is your care; you have a right to know the why behind what we do.

Therapy can give a feeling of uncertainty for many reasons. I aim to create a space for you to share these worries while I assure you that therapy can look however you need it to. We’ll work together to process big emotions, tackle daily troubles, strengthen relationships, increase self-care, and engage in self-exploration. This can be done through discussion, play, art, movement, mindfulness, or any creative solution we come up with together! Everyone can benefit from a time and place to work through areas of life they are concerned about and explore parts of themselves they want to shine a light on.

I want to make sure clients feel comfortable bringing the entirety of themselves to session just like I will. My identities, my use of sarcasm, and my love for coffee/tea are present year-round and I’m excited to learn what’s most important to you while engaging in the work that is therapy.

Self-awareness is about becoming aware of *all* parts of you.
The good, the hard,
the bumpy,
wonderful,
courageous,

and the still-learning
parts of you.

Ever felt lonely in a room, house, or community full of people? Makes sense.

"Loneliness does not come from having no people around you, but from being unable to communicate the things that seem important to you."

Maybe you can't communicate what is inside you because it's not safe, no one will listen, or you are afraid. Here's what we know: healing can happen when people feel safe and heard, and we're here to listen.
