Knee osteoarthritis is extremely prevalent in our world today. It can start as just a little knee pain and progress to more severe disability over time. Finding treatment can be extremely costly, and it doesn't always work. Joint injections mask the pain for a while, but ultimately don't have long term effects. Surgery can be incredibly painful to recover from, and can leave you no better or even worse than previously. Supervised exercise with a physical therapist who is able to πŸ‘€ see you one on one and prescribe exercises that you can handle is the best treatment option for moderate OA and has better 😁 outcomes at 1 year than surgery or injections πŸ’‰.

Mythbusters about PT:

πŸ’₯It's gonna hurt. It may be mildly uncomfortable, but communicating with your PT will make it so that your pain stays under control.
πŸ’₯It's going to be too hard. PT's can modify exercises and make them manageable to your body.
πŸ’₯It's not going to work. Physical therapy is extremely effective for helping people work through their challenges with movement. Find an awesome PT who can actually spend your treatment time with you.

Foot pain is one of the most common pain issues that we face as adults. It is estimated that over 10% of adults will experience pain on their plantar fascia, or the strong support system on the bottom of feet within their lifetime.
In fact foot problems are so common that doing some foot exercises on a regular basis can be helpful in getting feet to be stronger and more resilient to the stresses we put on our feet!
I like to use a lacrosse ball to (gently) roll out my arches on a regular basis. I simply put the lacrosse ball on the floor, start right in front of the heel of my foot, and roll out to my toes a few times. 🐾

Pain management is not something that happens overnight. People come from all different walks in life, and have had all kinds of experiences which affect their day to day pain experience. Learning to embrace that one strategy for managing and reducing your pain may work for one person and may not work for the next person is essential in starting your journey of learning how to best manage your pain, and come out on the other side as a stronger, more resilient, happier you.
