Thanksgiving Nutrition Hacks to Stay on Track 🦃🥗

You can enjoy the holiday and feel good afterward—no extremes needed!
Try these simple tweaks this week:
• Start with protein + veggies to steady hunger before diving into the richer dishes.
• Build a balanced plate: half veggies, a quarter protein, a quarter carbs. Protein should be at least the size of your palm.
• Hydrate with water between bites—thirst often masquerades as hunger.
• Pick your “worth it” treats and skip the ones you don’t truly love. Don’t just eat because it’s there. What foods and drinks are truly “worth it” to you?
• Move after eating. Take a 10 minute walk.

Small choices add up. Enjoy the feast without the food fog! 🍽️️✨

“Bodybuilding isn’t a hobby—it’s a lifestyle built on discipline, consistency, and the belief that you can always become stronger than you were yesterday.”

It was a 4th place finish in the IFBB Pro Bikini Masters yesterday. I never secured a win this year, but that’s OK. This is a LIFESTYLE that I absolutely love, and I’m blessed to be able to share my love of fitness and all things “health” with others!

Why We Have to Pay Attention to Additives in Our Food

Your body knows how to process real food—fruit, veggies, quality protein, and single ingredient fats.
It does not process modern chemicals the same way.

And whether your goal is to be healthy, lose weight, or perform like an elite athlete, this matters more than people realize.

Here’s why:

• Glyphosate:
A chemical made to kill weeds. The body can’t break it down like natural compounds. It can disrupt gut health, immunity, and nutrient absorption. This is not listed on food labels, but can be found in many processed foods.

• Synthetic folic acid:
Not the same as food-based folate. Many people can’t convert it properly (those with MTHFR mutations), which can affect energy, hormones, and detox pathways. Anytime you see the word “fortified” - it’s likely added.

• Gums & emulsifiers:
Added for texture and shelf life, but can irritate the gut, alter the microbiome, and trigger inflammation.

• Dough conditioners & “enhancers”:
Chemicals that make bread softer and last longer—but your body treats them like foreign substances, not food.

Bottom line:

Whole foods = information your body understands.
Additives = confusion, inflammation, and extra stress on your system.

You don’t have to be perfect—just aware.
Read labels. Choose real food more often. Take the bun off (Carbs aren’t often the problem- the chemicals are.) Support your body and know what you’re putting in it!

Hitting Your Macros Is Like Fitting Puzzle Pieces Together 🧩

One of the best habits you can build is pre-logging your food. When you plug your meals into your tracker early in the day, you can see exactly how the “puzzle pieces” of your macros will fit — and make adjustments before you’re stuck at the end of the night trying to cram in protein or cut carbs/fats.

For lifestyle clients, remember: flexibility is part of the process.
Yes, you can occasionally have the cookie. 🍪
But fitting that piece into the puzzle might mean swapping butter on your potato for pairing your meal with a low-carb, low-fat veggie like steamed broccoli instead.

A cookie won’t pack as much nutritional value, but strategically fitting in treats on special days helps keep you consistent — and consistency is what moves the needle.

Plan ahead, build awareness, and let your macros work for you, not against you. 💪🧩

🧠 Get Your Mind Right for the Holidays 🍽️️💪

The holidays are a time to enjoy — not to completely lose sight of your goals. The key isn’t restriction or guilt… it’s having a plan and keeping your routine.

🎯 Stick to your normal schedule.
Keep showing up for your workouts. Stick to your usual meal timing as much as possible. The more consistent your routine, the less likely you’ll spiral into that “I’ll start over in January” mindset.

🥗 Have a plan for what you’ll eat.
Going in without a plan often leads to overdoing it — and you end up feeling worse, both physically and mentally. You don’t need to skip your favorite foods, but make intentional choices. Decide ahead of time how you want to feel after the meal, not just during it.

💡 Remember: One meal doesn’t define your progress — but neither does one workout. It’s the pattern of what you do most days that matters.

This season, enjoy the celebrations, but take care of yourself too. This is the BEST time to check in with your coach! Future you will thank you for staying mindful.

Perform How You Prepare 💪🏽

You can’t expect to perform at a high level if your habits don’t match your goals.
If you want to be stronger, faster, or more explosive — it’s not just about showing up to practice. It’s about what you do every day outside of it.

🏋️‍♂️ Train with purpose:
Don’t just go through the motions. Every rep, sprint, and drill should move you toward your goal. Consistency beats intensity — showing up day after day builds real results.

🍳 Eat like an athlete:
Your body is your engine. You can’t run on empty or junk fuel. How will you perform at practice when you eat something like chicken and rice for lunch vs pizza and Doritos?
Eat enough REAL food (the kind that doesn’t have an ingredient list)— protein, carbs, fruits, and veggies — throughout the day to stay energized and recover faster. Skipping meals, daily fast food, alcohol/soda, or eating once a day won’t cut it.

😴 Sleep like it matters (because it does):
Growth and recovery happen when you rest.
Aim for 8+ hours. That’s when your muscles repair, your mind resets, and your performance levels up.

The best athletes aren’t the ones who just work hard during the season — they’re the ones who live like athletes all year round.
Eat. Train. Sleep. Repeat. That’s how you perform when it matters most.
