Why We Have to Pay Attention to Additives in Our Food
Your body knows how to process real food—fruit, veggies, quality protein, and single ingredient fats.
It does not process modern chemicals the same way.
And whether your goal is to be healthy, lose weight, or perform like an elite athlete, this matters more than people realize.
Here’s why:
• Glyphosate:
A chemical made to kill weeds. The body can’t break it down like natural compounds. It can disrupt gut health, immunity, and nutrient absorption. This is not listed on food labels, but can be found in many processed foods.
• Synthetic folic acid:
Not the same as food-based folate. Many people can’t convert it properly (those with MTHFR mutations), which can affect energy, hormones, and detox pathways. Anytime you see the word “fortified” - it’s likely added.
• Gums & emulsifiers:
Added for texture and shelf life, but can irritate the gut, alter the microbiome, and trigger inflammation.
• Dough conditioners & “enhancers”:
Chemicals that make bread softer and last longer—but your body treats them like foreign substances, not food.
Bottom line:
Whole foods = information your body understands.
Additives = confusion, inflammation, and extra stress on your system.
You don’t have to be perfect—just aware.
Read labels. Choose real food more often. Take the bun off (Carbs aren’t often the problem- the chemicals are.) Support your body and know what you’re putting in it!
