As a Certified ACE Nutrition Specialist / Personal Trainer with a B.A. in Health and Fitness from Purdue University, my industry experience since 2005 has helped me to design wellness programs focused on using food for FUEL and nourishment in order to lead a healthier lifestyle and achieve optimal wellness. In addition to my role as a mother of three busy boys, I am an IFBB Fitness Pro, marathon runner, and triathlete who enjoys snow skiing, boating, coffee, and date nights with my husband! Reducing inflammation? Focus on reading labels and looking for seed oils.

• Most restaurants, school lunches & packaged foods are loaded with seed oils
• Common ones: soybean, canola, sunflower, corn, peanut oil
• Read labels — seed oils are everywhere
• Choosing single ingredient foods = fewer hidden oils
• Whole foods are different. Natural nuts, seeds, & nut/seed butters don’t equal processed seed oils.
• The issue isn’t the single ingredient food — it’s overdoing omega-6

• Best approach:
✔️ Avoid industrial oils and processed food
✔️ Eat mostly single-ingredient foods
✔️ Enjoy nut & seed butters that contain only the nut/seed and salt.
✔️Include foods high in Omega 3s like salmon

Bottom line:
Less label reading= More inflammation.
More label reading + simpler food = better balance.

Don’t be afraid to be different.
Different schedules. Different standards. Different sacrifices. You don’t owe anyone else an apology or explanation for having GOALS.

Everyone’s chasing the newest fad, but the truth is simple: the basics work — and they always have.

Instead of obsessing over supplements, trends, or injections, dial in on the basics.
• Eat single ingredient foods

Why Your Off-Season Focus Matters as an Athlete

Everyone sees the in-season grind, but the truth is this: your next level is built in the off-season. It’s not time off — it’s a shift in focus.

🏋️ Training: Build strength, refine technique, and increase capacity without game-day pressure. Make your training intentional and don’t just go through the motions.
🥗 Nutrition: Fuel muscle growth, recovery, and long-term performance. Choose single ingredient foods that will nourish your body, say no to alcohol, and don’t succumb to the pressure from others. If you want to be an elite athlete, you have to take this seriously YEAR-round!
😴 Sleep and recover: Reset your body, restore consistency, and recover deeper. Schedule bodywork, cryotherapy, or take Epsom salt baths.

Every off-season looks different, but the purpose stays the same:
prepare the athlete you’ll compete with next season.
