Keep your holidays safe and delicious — proper leftover storage helps prevent food poisoning.
Whether you're saving grandma’s stuffing or last night’s turkey, knowing how to store and reheat leftovers can protect your family from foodborne illness.
Leftover Storage & Food Poisoning Prevention Tips
 Refrigerate leftovers within 2 hours of cooking (1 hour if it’s over 90°F outside)
 Use airtight containers and divide large portions into shallow dishes to cool quickly
 Keep your fridge at 40°F or below and freezer at 0°F
 Reheat leftovers to 165°F to kill harmful bacteria
 Label and date containers so you know what’s safe to eat
 Consume refrigerated leftovers within 3–4 days, or freeze them for longer storage
 When in doubt, throw it out — bacteria doesn’t always change taste or smell
Wash hands before and after handling leftovers and avoid reusing original packaging for storage.

GERD Awareness: Heartburn Help After the Feast
Big holiday meals can bring big discomfort — especially if you’re one of the millions living with GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease). Heartburn, bloating, and acid reflux often spike after rich, heavy meals. But relief is possible!
Quick tips to ease symptoms:
 Eat smaller portions and avoid lying down after meals
 Limit trigger foods like spicy dishes, chocolate, caffeine, and alcohol
 Stay upright for at least 2–3 hours after eating
 Ask your pharmacist about over-the-counter options or prescription treatments

Traveling for the Holidays? Don’t Forget Your Meds!
Between packing gifts and planning getaways, it’s easy to overlook your medications. Whether you take daily prescriptions or just want to be prepared for unexpected illness, a travel medication checklist can help you stay healthy and stress-free on the go.
Quick Checklist:
 Daily prescriptions in original labeled containers
 Over-the-counter essentials: pain relievers, allergy meds, antacids, cold/flu relief
 Travel-specific items: motion sickness tablets, anti-diarrheals, electrolyte packets
 First aid basics: bandages, antiseptic wipes, hydrocortisone cream
 Doctor’s note for controlled substances or injectables
 Copy of prescriptions in case of loss or customs questions
 Travel-size pill organizer for convenience
 Check TSA rules for liquids and medical devices
o Keep medications in your carry-on, not checked luggage, and bring a few extra days’ supply in case of delays.

World Diabetes Day: Manage Diabetes During Thanksgiving
More than 37 million people in the U.S. are living with diabetes — and many don’t even know it. This chronic condition causes blood sugar levels to rise when the body doesn’t produce enough insulin. Common symptoms include increased thirst, frequent urination, fatigue, unexplained weight loss, or numbness. If any of these sound familiar, it’s time to get your blood sugar tested.
On World Diabetes Day, we’re raising awareness and encouraging healthy habits — especially as we head into the holiday season. Thanksgiving can be a challenge for those managing diabetes, but with a little planning, you can enjoy the celebration without compromising your health. Focus on portion control, choose fiber-rich foods, stay active, and monitor your blood sugar regularly. And if you have questions about medications, meal planning, or glucose monitoring, our pharmacists are here to help you navigate the season with confidence.
