The reasons given include lack of time, financial pressure, gift-giving, and family gatherings. To make matters worse, the National Alliance on Mental Illness noted that 64% of individuals living with a mental illness felt that their conditions worsened around the holidays- stay mindful, have boundaries!

Did you ever wonder why you can't seem to shake feelings that no matter how much you try, they sneak back in- even when you're least expecting it? You can tell yourself all day long that "it never happened, or it's not a big deal, I shouldn't feel like that" but the truth is, every moment was a big deal- bigger than what you were ready for or able to cope with. "tough love" is not what many parents think it is...there's a very fine line between tough love and emotional abuse.
both can sometimes include lecturing, however, emotional abuse actually crosses the line by giving direct orders and making your decisions for you, instead of including your desires and thoughts for consideration. Learn by listening- don't repeat the lessons learned...
