Influenza A: What Parents Should Know

Influenza A is circulating heavily right now, and it often hits kids hard.

Common symptoms include:

• Sudden fever
• Body aches
• Headache
• Fatigue
• Cough or sore throat

Flu is not “just a bad cold.” If your child has a high fever, significant fatigue, or worsening symptoms, testing and evaluation can help guide care.

We’re Seeing a Lot of Influenza A, Strep, and RSV Right Now

We want parents to know what we’re seeing in the clinic right now.
Over the past several weeks, we’ve seen a significant increase in:

• Influenza A
• Strep throat
• RSV

If your child has a fever, sore throat, persistent cough, breathing changes, or is just “not acting like themselves,” it’s worth having them evaluated.

Early diagnosis helps guide appropriate care—and helps keep illnesses from spreading through families.

In 2025, we explored the science behind recovery—and found common threads in every topic we covered:

Low cholesterol isn’t just a number—it impacts mood, cognition, and myelination.

Oxidative stress and mitochondrial dysfunction underlie fatigue, anxiety, and regression.

Food allergies and sensitivities inflame the gut and brain alike.
PANS and PANDAS reveal how powerful—and fragile—the immune system can be.

Functional nutrition continues to transform how we approach every case.

Together, these discoveries make up a roadmap for true recovery.

When Is It More Than “Just a Cold”?

Not every sniffle needs a doctor visit—but some symptoms deserve closer attention.

Please call or schedule an appointment if your child has:

• Fever lasting more than 2–3 days
• Trouble breathing or fast breathing
• Severe sore throat
• Refusing fluids
• Lethargy or unusual behavior
• Worsening symptoms instead of improvement

Trust your instincts. Parents know when something isn’t right.

Hope & Healing—What 2025 Taught Us About Recovery
by Dr. Sonia McGowin D.C.

This year has been a powerful reminder of why we do what we do. From first appointments filled with fear and exhaustion to joyful updates about recovered skills, balanced moods, and peaceful nights—2025 has been a year of science, perseverance, and hope.

🌿 The Power of Connection

Each webinar, every appointment, and every family story reinforced one truth: everything is connected. The gut affects the brain. The immune system shapes behavior. Nutrient balance fuels healing. When we address all of it together, children change in ways that once seemed impossible.
