Coming October 19, 2015:
In Search of Yourself
With
William L. Blevins, PhD, LMFT, LPC

Thales, an ancient philosopher, said, “The most difficult thing in life is to know yourself.” He was not the only person in history who spoke about the importance of knowing and relating to ourselves. Jesus especially taught that we are to love ourselves. Our spiritual development involves an intrapersonal quest for personal integration and wholeness, as well as relating properly to God and others. Yet, who are we at the core of our being? Who is the real person behind all of the roles we play, the titles we use, and the vocations we serve? We can become the person we have the potential to be only when we begin identifying and connecting to our true self. This quest is the nature of this online course—to understand the person we are and to identify who we can become. This journey will nurture a higher quality of life, as well as a greater sense of purpose and meaning.

Registration for the course: In Search of Yourself is an online course that persons register for and complete in their own time frame. It also counts towards the seven courses in the Spirituality Certificate program. Merely access the William Blevins Institute for Spirituality & Mental Health on the Carson Newman website (www.cn.edu/blevins). On the Institute portion of the CN site, click the Certificate Courses (CEU) tab and follow directions for registration. The cost is $150 which includes the text book and CEU’s if requested. When you register for the course send an email to bblevins@cn.edu with your home address and I will send you the text book. Also, if you have further questions contact me any time at the same email address.

Powerful Tools for Caregiver Classes will resume in January, 2016. We are also devising an online version for caregivers that are unable to leave their homes, or live distances from our campus.

06/27/2015

Coming July 12; the next Powerful Tools for Caregivers Classes.
Powerful Tools for Caregivers is an educational program that provides caregivers an array of tools to manage the emotions associated with anger, guilt, and depression which are normal and expected companions of caregiving. Applying these tools enables caregivers to give the very best care they possibly can to their loved one. Caregivers learn how to not only survive, but thrive during their caregiving.
There is no charge for the classes, and class size is limited to 16 participants. Reserve your spot by calling the Institute at 865-475-3011 and leaving your name and number, or email jrjoyce@cn.edu.
Classes will meet every Sunday at the Baker Building, second floor, room 210, from 2:00 until 4:30, and will end August 16. Facilitators are Judy Milner, and Jane Joyce.
Please plan to come if you are a caregiver, or pass this information on to someone you know who is a caregiver.
