⚠️Dense Fog Safety ⚠️

Dense fog can make it very hard to see when you’re driving or walking outside. It can show up quickly and lower your visibility in just minutes.

Here’s how to stay safe in dense fog:
✅ Slow down
✅ Turn on your low-beam headlights
✅ Give extra space between you and other vehicles
✅ Use windshield wipers and defrosters
❌ Do NOT use high beams — they can make it harder to see
✅ If you can, delay travel until the fog clears

If you must be out, stay alert and take it slow. Getting there safely is what matters most.

Help keep our community safe by sharing this!

Goose is a sweet and loyal 8-year-old Goldendoodle searching for a calm, loving home where he can relax and enjoy life. Weighing about 80 pounds, he’s neutered, up to date on vaccines, and in good health.✨

Goose has completed professional training and is even a Canine Good Citizen graduate! He’s a smart boy with that classic doodle personality—friendly, affectionate, and delightfully goofy once he’s comfortable. He does great with other dogs and animals, walks nicely on a leash, and knows his commands.🐾

Because Goose and small children can both struggle a bit with boundaries, he’d do best in a home without little ones. He’s never shown issues toward adults, and with structure and calm energy, he truly thrives.🏠

Goose is ready to bring love, loyalty, and plenty of doodle charm to his forever home. 💛

🌟 EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT TEAM SPOTLIGHT: DIVISION CHIEF MACKINLEY “MAC” KENNEDY 🌟

Today we’re proud to highlight Division Chief Mac Kennedy — a dedicated leader whose passion for service, communications, and community preparedness has shaped Emergency Management across Cole County and Jefferson City. Chief Kennedy serves as the Deputy Director for Emergency Management.

Mac has been part of Cole County Emergency Services since 2017, growing from a 911 Communicator to overseeing all Emergency Management operations for both the County and the City. In his current role, he leads preparedness, planning, coordination, and recovery efforts, while also managing the EMS Communications Center, countywide radio systems, technology infrastructure, and our Mobile Emergency Operations Center. If it keeps responders connected, informed, and supported — Mac likely has a hand in it.

His journey began at just 13 years old when he became a licensed amateur radio operator. That early spark led him into the fire service, public safety communications, and eventually leadership roles across multiple response teams throughout Central Missouri. Mac’s technical expertise is matched only by his commitment to collaboration and readiness.

When asked what he enjoys most about his job, Mac says it’s the variety — no two days are the same. One day may be troubleshooting complex communication systems; the next may involve large-scale coordination with regional partners. And while much of Emergency Management happens behind the scenes, Mac notes that those countless hours of preparation are what allow responders and systems to function seamlessly when a crisis hits.

Outside of work, Mac enjoys going to church, spending time with friends and family, tending the smoker on a nice weekend, and diving into anything involving technology. He’s known for his passion for radios — if it transmits or connects, he’s probably taken it apart to make it better.

Mac believes building a resilient community means building trust, strengthening partnerships, and ensuring our responders and residents are equipped to face challenges together. His favorite quote reflects that spirit of preparedness:
“The time to repair the roof is when the sun is shining.” — John F. Kennedy

We’re grateful for Mac’s leadership, dedication, and steady presence behind the systems that keep our community safe every day.

Thank you, Division Chief Kennedy, for helping build a safer, stronger, and more resilient Cole County.
