The last part of our S.A.F.E. Plan is the E - Exit. When you feel unsafe or uncomfortable, you never have to stay. Excuse or no excuse, you can leave. It helps to have a safe person you can call in these situations who will support you or even come to get you! Know who that is ahead of time and make a plan with them. You are never alone.

The third part of our S.A.F.E. Plan is the F - Firmly Say No. No matter how you say no, you deserve to be heard. Someone crossing your boundaries is never your fault. However you are allowed to say no when you feel uncomfortable or unsafe, so be confident in it! You are strong and capable. You can say no.

The next part of our S.A.F.E. Plan is the A - Avoid Danger. Danger can be a place, person, or topic. It may differ person to person, so know what feels dangerous to you and avoid it. You never have to do anything, go anywhere, see anyone, or say anything you are uncomfortable with.

Often during the holidays, we are surrounded by people - some safe and some not. We recommend forming a S.A.F.E. Plan to help you with the unsafe people you may encounter. Over the next few weeks, we will go through each letter and explain how you can implement it.

First, we have S - Set Boundaries. A boundary is a limit or the line in which you are not comfortable passing. What are you comfortable with physically, verbally, mentally, and emotionally? Where do you need to draw the line? Come up with your boundaries, and don't be afraid to state them when needed.
