Julianne Small Fischer found this drawing in her vast collection of Jefferson history; This is a drawing of the Badgett house, which was located on the corner of S. Line and E. Walker Streets.

Elizabeth Badgett had the house torn down since she was married and living in west Texas. She sold the lot to Mrs Nettie Mae Lemmon who built the pink brick house that is there now, probably in the mid-1960's.

Mrs Aline Badgett was a Culberson; her children are the ones who gave the garden club the bedroom set that belonged to Charles Culberson. They are connected to the Moseley family also. Can anyone explain how the Culbersons are connected to the Moseleys?

Pictured here is Charles Steger, local genealogist/ historian extraordinaire talking about the history / genealogy of the famous Ringling Family Circus at the MCGS February meeting. In these photos, Charles is showing some of his many antique and collectible circus posters.

Did you know that at its' peak the Ringling Circus was transported by 4 trains of 40 cars each? Their "Big Top" tent was as large as a football field? They moved the entire operation overnight between towns?
