The 2025 Lion’s Gate Portal is an evolutionary energy that is taking place in the 9th Universal Year. This is a year of Karmic endings. We are being asked to heal and release the old.

This festival is about communities come together to rally for youth, mental health, and emotional wellness. This event is powerful because it opens the conversation around mental health and emotional literacy — and gives us the tools to begin healing in real ways.

Show of Hands...Who Loves Spring!?

Spring Equinox is a moment of balance between light and dark, a turning point toward longer days, new growth, and fresh possibilities. In the Northern Hemisphere, the earth is waking up. Buds are appearing on branches, the air is shifting, and something inside of us stirs too - a knowing that it’s time to shed the heaviness of winter and step into what’s next.

I love when the plants and flowers start coming back to life and the colors of nature start popping out to say "Hello". Don't you just love this time of year?

I remember when I was growing up that my father would always plan a garden sometime in late February and early March. He would even seed some vegetables inside so they could go into a new garden by May.

This is a season of renewal, possibility, and expansion. Here are two things you can do to welcome in this new season of your life:

Celebrate Spring by planting a Wish Garden....

Spring is the season of planting seeds of all kinds-seeds, dreams, and intentions. If you have kiddos (or just love getting your hands in the dirt), this is a great way to mark this shift:

🪴 Get some small pots, soil, and seeds (flowers, herbs, or veggies - whatever excites you!).
🌿 As you plant the seeds, each person speaks a wish or intention for the coming season.
💦 Water them together and place them in the sun. As the plants grow, let them be a reminder of what you’re nurturing in your own life.

Have a Group or Friend Gathering – Spring Equinox Feast & Fire

🧺Spring invites connection, celebration, and sharing abundance. Gather your family or friends for an Equinox Feast - a potluck of fresh, seasonal foods.
🍽️Ask each person to bring a dish that represents renewal, growth, or something they’re welcoming into their life.
🔥 After dinner, light a small fire (or candles) and share one thing you’re releasing from winter and one thing you’re calling in for spring.
🥂 End with a toast to new beginnings!

Whatever you decide to do, set your intentions for the most positive outcomes for your life. You get to choose what thoughts you want to have, where you want to be and who you want to be with.

Take a Self-Compassion Break
There are a lot of people suffering with the many changes taking place in the world right now. People are feeling anxious, confused and down-right frustrated.

May I suggest a self-compassion break.
Self-compassion involves acting kindly towards yourself when you are having a difficult time. Instead of avoiding the pain, you acknowledge that this is difficult right now and explore how you can comfort and care for yourself in this moment. Rather than extending harsh judgement and criticism toward yourself in the face of inadequacies or shortcomings, you extend kindness and understanding.

To further this thought, Dr. Kristin Neff, researcher, author and founder of self-compassion.org, suggests that “having compassion for yourself means that you honor and accept your humanness.” The human experience inevitably involves making mistakes, incurring losses, and ideals failing to match up to reality. According to Neff, the more we are open to this reality, this shared human condition, the more we will be able to feel compassion for ourselves and for each other.

An activity for you to use this week and next …
“May I be kind to myself” mantra
Now, put your hands over your heart, feel the warmth of your hands and the gentle touch on your chest, and say, “May I be kind to myself.” This is a way to express self-kindness. You can also consider whether there is another specific phrase that would speak to you in that particular situation. Some examples:

“May I give myself the compassion that I need”
“May I accept myself as I am”
“May I learn to accept myself as I am”
“May I forgive myself”
“May I be strong”
“May I be patient with myself and others”

This practice can be used any time of day or night. If you practice it in moments of relative calm, it might become easier for you to experience the three parts of self-compassion—mindfulness, common humanity, and self-kindness—when you need them most.
