Chronic thumb pain, Carpal tunnel syndrome, Vitreous floaters, Barrett's esophagus, Sleep disturbance, and Hair thinning – KOSA Acupuncture Testimonial
- Patient: 71-year-old female 251227
- Chief Complaints: Chronic thumb pain (3 years) and Carpal tunnel syndrome (3 years).
- Associated Symptoms: Vitreous floaters (8 years), Barrett's esophagus (8 years), Sleep disturbance (3 years), Hair thinning.
- Past Medical History: Total hysterectomy (1997), Gastric bypass surgery (2001), Bilateral total knee arthroplasty (2012, 2013), Rotator cuff repair (2021), Cervical disc surgery (2022), Glaucoma surgery (Feb. 2025)
- Current Medications: Triamterene – for hypertension (12 years), Pantoprazole – for Barrett’s esophagus (8 years), Eszopiclone – for insomnia (4 years), Duloxetine – prescribed for neuropathic pain (2 years), Pregabalin – for neuropathic pain (2 years), Latanoprost – glaucoma prophylaxis (10 months), Zeaxanthin – retinal support (10 months)
- First visit on December 27, 2025: Complete resolution of pain. Restoration of normal hand and wrist function. Significant reduction in vitreous floaters. Patient voluntarily discontinued all medications.
- 2nd Session (December 28, 2025): Patient presented with only mild finger pain despite complete discontinuation of all previously taken medications following the initial visit. Reported no impairment in activities of daily living.
Post-treatment: Complete resolution of all pain symptoms.
- 3rd Treatment Session (January 3, 2026): Following discontinuation of medications, recurrence of symptoms including tinnitus prompted resumption of duloxetine and pregabalin. Vitreous floaters decreased from two to one, with significantly increased transparency reported. Finger pain had nearly resolved, causing no impairment in occupational or daily activities. Post-treatment, the patient reported further reduction in size and increased transparency of vitreous floater, along with normalization of the fingers.
- 4th Treatment Session (January 4, 2026): Finger pain remained absent; the patient presented for recurrence prevention. Post-treatment, further reduction in size and increased transparency of vitreous floaters were reported.
- Fifth visit (March 9, 2026): Stated that he had not visited in the interim because he wanted to completely discontinue all medications before continuing treatment. Reported full discontinuation of all oral medications and a weight loss of 10 pounds (approximately 4.5 kg). Presented with knee joint pain, thumb pain, and tinnitus. Complete resolution of all pain after the procedure, with improvement in tinnitus.
