Friends,
Thank you again for allowing me to take care of you and your families for all these years. I am writing today to remind you that I am still able to continue earning the trust that you have placed in me. I have officially began working with Florida Vision Institute and am seeing patients in both the Stuart(772-283-5020) and Tradition(772-345-5050) offices. Dear Friends and Family,
I write to you today with an exciting, though bittersweet, announcement. It was with deep contemplation and consideration that I have decided to sell my practice in Jensen Beach, located inside the Treasure Coast Square Mall. Dr. Amanda Nugent will be assuming control of the office and will be glad to continue the care that we have been providing to you over the years.
HOWEVER….If you wish to continue seeing me personally, our journey together still has plenty of time. I have decided to take a position within Florida Vision Optique and Institute. I will still have access to all records of our visits together and will be able to serve most of you even more conveniently than before. I will be splitting my time between the Stuart and the Tradition locations.

Spending time at both offices will allow for me to spend time with my patients from Hobe Sound, Palm City and Stuart to the south and those from Port St. Lucie, Okeechobee, and Ft. Pierce to the north with more convenient access. Those patients in Jensen Beach…well, you can just flip a coin (haha) as to which office you would prefer. This opportunity also allows for more comprehensive monitoring of all medical concerns and more immediate access to specialist care, as there are retina, cornea, glaucoma, cataract, and LASIK specialists and more under the same roofs.

It has truly been my honor to care for you and your families…making you all part of mine as well. I look forward to continuing your care for many years to come, just in a new home.

As we prepare for the offices to re-open for routine care, we are updating our office protocols especially during Phase 1. These changes will affect everyone - doctors, staff, and patients. These changes will take effect immediately and will be modified as necessary based on recommendations from the CDC and the American Optometric Association.

1. No appointments can be scheduled for any person who has symptoms of COVID-19, who is living with someone that has symptoms, who has been in contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 or who has traveled to high risk locations within the last 14 days.
2. Patients will be screened for temperature and O2 saturation PRIOR to entering the office.
3. Hand sanitizer will be available at the office entrance and must be used by anyone entering the office or to immediately wash one’s hands.
4. Anyone over the age of 10 entering the office, including patients and guardians, must wear a mask. Individual masks will become available for purchase for patients, but we encourage patients to bring their own disposable or reusable mask.
5. All staff will be wearing PPE covering their mouth, nose and eyes when they are within 6 feet of patients or other people in the office. Staff will be wearing clean scrubs daily.
6. Social distancing will be adhered to as closely as possible. Paperwork will be done electronically prior to an examination. Contact lens home delivery will be offered to all patients at the cost billed by the contact lens manufacturer. Seating within the office has been reduced to adhere to current guidelines. We will only be allowing the patient and an ESSENTIAL caregiver or guardian into the office and the exam room.
7. Physical barriers on certain equipment will be installed to provide additional protection to patients and staff.
8. EVERY device or machine will be disinfected before its use with the next patient.
9. Staff must not present to work when ill with symptoms of infection and will ALSO be screened PRIOR to entering the office daily.
10. No new or first time contact lens fittings will be performed.

These are significant changes and will affect all patient encounters at our office. If you have concerns about these changes, please discuss them with staff prior to making an appointment.

With the office planning on reopening soon, we wanted to take a moment to remind our friends of some of the best practices to control the spread of viruses(not just COVID-19) and stay healthy. We cannot wait to back and helping live and in person. We will post our exact opening date as soon as we have the office ready. We just wanted to thank all of our extended "family" members for your patience and support during these strange times. Please know that we are still here every day answering calls and doing all that we can to continue caring for each of you. We will be back in the offices as soon as possible. In the meantime, if you are in need of anything (eye care, contact lens orders, or just a friendly ear), please do not hesitate to call us at 772-692-4900.

With the current environment, and the offices unable to open, we are just reminding everyone that we are still here for you as best as we can. Please know that we are still here to advise in emergencies(possibly even to treat via telemedicine), to answer general questions, or even to replenish contact lenses (if needed).

To our contact lens wearers, in this unprecedented time, however, our BEST recommendation is for you to wear your eyeglasses to minimize the touching your eyes. We can still order lenses (if needed) and have them shipped directly to your house(most of the time at no charge). We can still verify and bill your vision insurance for materials if available. We may even be able to extend an expired prescription until we are able to get you in for your next exam.

If we can be of help, please call us at 772-692-4900(our main office number) and leave a message. We check the voicemail several time a day and we will get back to you within a few hours.
