Is alcohol causing my depression?

Alcohol is classified as a depressant, but that doesn’t mean alcohol causes depression. It describes alcohol’s slowing effects on the central nervous system.

That said, alcoholics are 3.7 times more likely to experience depression than non-alcoholics.
