We said goodbye to Sherman today. đź’”
Heartbroken doesn’t begin to cover it.
Sherman, I miss you. And I don’t know how I’m going to remember to go to bed on time without your pointed stare from the doorway. It was my honor to be your person.
Some of the many things we loved about Sherman:
• If you asked “how fast can you wag your tail?”, he’d demonstrate.
• The way he told us about his day when we got home from work
• He was up for anything- 10 mile hike? Snooze on the couch?
• How soft his fur was (no we did not use conditioner!)
• His eyebrows (duh)
• The way he trotted down a trail and always stopped to wait for us at intersections
• How terrible he was at sniffing out treats on the floor
• His smushy nap face
• The way he’d rest his chin on my shoulder from the back seat while I was driving
• All the gross stuff he hated: wet leaves, mud, rain, smelly stuff- not for Sherm.
• He would try to catch balls and toys with his paws
• He would only give the ball back if we gave him belly rubs first
• The sneaky way he’d end up in our bed at night without waking us
• He often stuck his nose under a hand, tossed it up in the air, and then ducked under so it would land on his head
• His joyful bounding on the beach
• How he always stood up to greet my clients on Zoom.
• How gently he took treats from hands
• The begrudging way he allowed June to think she was in charge of him.
He was a one-of-a-kind friend. A steady companion. We were so lucky to have such a long time with him.
A huge shoutout to for their know-how and kindness to Sherman and his people. đź’›
