Living donors in New York undergo thorough health evaluations to ensure safe and successful organ donations. Their well-being is a top priority throughout the process.

🫀 Living donation saves lives—and protects donors too. In New York, living donors are carefully screened to ensure they’re physically and emotionally ready to donate. Whether it's a kidney or part of a liver, donors go through:
- Comprehensive medical exams to assess heart, lung, and kidney function
- Blood type and crossmatching tests to ensure compatibility with recipients
- Psychological evaluations to confirm the decision is voluntary and informed

The results speak volumes: Over 98% of kidneys from living donors are still functioning one year after transplant, and liver donations show equally strong outcomes.✨
