🌻 Nature allows us to reconnect and reminds us of the order, harmony and beauty that exists all around us when present. Gift yourself the ability to slow down, pause and attune to the calm and peacefulness of nature. Practice being able to hold and carry that feeling and vision with you. 🌻

Sondra’s talk at the nedali walk yesterday:
You can do hard things. We have had a rough time in covid. Covid has been an added challenge to all of us and you are here today so we know we can do hard things. Post traumatic growth is possible.

Eating disorders are complex genetic biological and psychological disorders accelerated by our environmental conditions, beliefs and pressures. Eating disorders are about not feeling good about yourself and about not feeling valuable or special or enough. Those are lies and falsehoods the mind gets trapped in because the truth is:
Every human is worthy, Every human is valuable and Every human deserves the right to thrive and grow and feel good about who they are.

We can create a community that counters the social pressure to be different than our genetics have determined and the social pressures to conform to unrealistic standards.
We are stronger together and we can do better.

We can create a community that provides a safe place to be who you are, to have your uniqueness be valued and supported, to not let your weight, color, size, gender or sexual orientation diminish your value as a human and contribute to the development or exacerbation of an eating disorder.

We can create a community of acceptance, connection, and a place where you can thrive. We are proud of you. We stand STRONG together and with help, support and validation you can do hard things. We can do hard things.

We walk today in solidarity and proof that there can be post traumatic growth...that good things can come after trauma, stress and challenge. That recovery is possible. NEDA is on your side. NEDA is part of your team. Recovery and life is waiting for you!

Step step step
One step, one challenge and one victory at a time. You got this and we have you. Connect and thrive.
We are sending strength, courage and blessings to every one of you. ♥️🙏

“You are not a mistake. You are not a problem to be solved. But you won't discover this until you are willing to stop banging your head against the wall of shaming and caging and fearing yourself.”

The eating disorder cages you in and isolates you. It is a decision and a commitment to break free and discover life outside of it. However, you don't have to do all the work alone - because that is what health care providers, loved ones and community are there for, to hold you up, face you forward and support you along the way.

In recovery, the eating disorder voice is so loud.

This is a reminder that you are more than your eating disorder, and more than your eating disorder thoughts and behaviors. You are not your eating disorder and your eating disorder is not you.

The eating disorder thoughts are inevitable, but you can challenge them by separating yourself from them. Fight back, talk back, disobey its commands, and do the opposite of what it tells you.
You can do hard, scary and uncomfortable things!

You have the power to take back control of your life.
