Are We Raising Weekend Warriors… Or Burnt-Out Kids?
Summer hits and suddenly it’s:
- Tournaments every weekend
- Back-to-back games
- Travel teams
- Hours in the car
- Long, hot days
We call them “weekend warriors.”
But here’s the question no one asks:
Are they actually thriving or just surviving the schedule?
Because Success Isn’t Just Playing More
It’s easy to think:
-More reps = better athlete
-More games = more success
But thriving kids need more than just playtime.
They need:
- Rest between the chaos
- Fuel that actually supports their body
- Hydration (not just sports drinks and snacks)
- Recovery for growing muscles and joints
- A nervous system that isn’t constantly overwhelmed
The Part That Is Often Overlooked
-Kids are still developing.
-Their bodies adapt quickly but they also fatigue quickly when there’s no balance.
Without recovery, you’ll see:
- More injuries
- More irritability
- Less focus
- Burnout (even if they love the sport)
Thriving isn’t about doing more.
It’s about supporting better.
It looks like:
-Prioritizing sleep even during busy weekends
- Making time for recovery, not just performance
- Supporting their growing bodies (yes, spine and nervous system too)
- Letting them be kids, not just athletes
The Real Win
The goal isn’t to raise the busiest kid.
It’s to raise:
-Confident kids
-Resilient kids
-Healthy kids
-Kids who love what they do -- long term
The Question to Ask
Are we building athletes for this weekend or building healthy humans for life?
Because the kids who truly succeed aren’t just the ones who play the most.
They’re the ones who are supported the best and are Inspired;)
See you soon-
