Tomorrow night, if your plans for ringing in the new year include alcohol, be sure your plans also include a sober ride home. The Oregon Department of Transportation reminds drivers that when you make the choice to drink and drive, you are putting your life and the lives of others around you, in your hands, and not just people in other vehicles on the road. Dozens of pedestrians are killed every year in Oregon, often at night, by drivers who are impaired and on nights like tonight, where there is an increase in celebrations, it is likely we will see an increase in pedestrians. Drive sober or plan your sober ride home so we can all make it safely to 2026.
