FIRE & OUTDOOR REPORT: As fall settles across Oregon, the state’s Search and Rescue (SAR) teams are responding to several missions tied to mushroom foraging, hunting season, and sudden shifts in weather. The OEM is reminding everyone to plan ahead, be prepared, and stay aware of changing conditions when heading outdoors. The agency says to pack essential safety items, including extra food and water, warm clothing, an emergency blanket, flashlight, fire building materials, and a fully charged phone or radio. With colder temperatures, shorter daylight hours, and unpredictable weather patterns, take the necessary steps before venturing out.

Get the ROAD & OUTDOOR REPORT each weekday on KZHC, KJDY & News102 around 6:20AM, 7:20AM, 3:50PM, and 4:50PM on local roads, outdoor reports, and travel tips courtesy of LARKIN TOWING serving Harney County! Need a tow? Assistance? Call 541-589-4861!

Making sure your bicycle has reflectors and a light isn’t just a good idea – it’s required by law. Without lights and reflectors, you are virtually invisible to drivers at night. The Oregon Department of Transportation reminds riders to lighten up with reflectors and lights, and wear reflective clothing. Ride safely, it’s the way to go.
