October is Dysautonomia Awareness Month!

Our leader, Elisa Comer, has non-POTS dysautonomia from Sjogrens Syndrome. She also has Rheumatoid Arthritis.

Meet Our Leader

My name is Elisa and I've owned Eagle's Landing Transcription since 1999. Quality patient care through quality documentation is my passion and I've enjoyed a successful journey in healthcare admin. My professional certifications are in Health Information Technology/HIMSS (EMR, HIT, EMR Quality Auditor). I'm also a certified group fitness instructor with an emphasis on arthritis patients/movement.

In 2005, I was TN Small Business Person of the Year and in 2007, was appointed the first Nat'l EHR Coordinator for Transcription. I enjoyed this post until 2009, when I was diagnosed with severe rheumatoid arthritis. This diagnosis would start my own journey of chronic illness and I would see up close and personal - again and again - how errors in our medical records can and DO affect our care.

Later came Sjogrens, dysautonomia, and gastroparesis.

With the Great Recession and my illnesses, I was sure ELTS wouldn't make it. But our loyal clients rallied around us and refused to take "no" for an answer. So with great clients, some grit and grace, and perhaps some luck, ELTS survived. So it's ELTS-Round #2. I believe there is still work to be done - and I'm pretty passionate about it.

Bringing up a new client this week - thankful for new business in this tough economy. Ready to go the extra mile to make a difference for these docs. Glad that what our team does makes a difference way beyond just the actual documents we create. Ease of process, cost control - the MLS is, indeed, a valuable part of the patient care team.

Awesome time at SE-AHDI Fall Retreat. Learned about ESL dictators and dialect patterns, transcribing under the influence of fatigue, distractions, multi-tasking, and EMR - Meaningful Use. Met some great MLS's and enjoyed great fellowship.

Heading to the SE-AHDI Fall Retreat, speaking on Meaningful Use in EMR medicine. Thankful to have found the profession of transcription and the wonderful people I have met over the years. Thanking God specifically for my team today, I learn so much from them. I love what I do.
