🍂 Fall Wellness with Lotus Chinese Medicine 🍂

As the days grow cooler and the air turns crisp, many people start to feel subtle shifts in their health — dry skin, lingering coughs, fatigue, or even emotional heaviness.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), autumn is the season of the Metal element, which governs the Lung and Large Intestine systems. These organs help us take in nourishment and let go of what we no longer need — both physically and emotionally.

This makes fall an ideal time to support your immune system, strengthen Lung Qi, and prepare your body for winter.

🍁 Common Conditions We See in the Fall
According to both TCM wisdom and modern research, this season often brings:

💨 Respiratory issues – dry cough, sore throat, asthma flare-ups, or increased colds due to lung dryness and weaker “Wei Qi” (defensive energy).
🌾 Seasonal allergies – sinus congestion, sneezing, itchy eyes. Acupuncture and Chinese herbs can help regulate the immune response and reduce inflammation.
🌿 Digestive sluggishness – constipation or bloating linked to the Large Intestine meridian.
💧 Dry skin & throat – the dry fall air depletes fluids, affecting the lungs and skin.
💛 Emotional imbalance – grief, sadness, or fatigue may surface, as this is a season of reflection and release.

🌬️ How TCM Can Help
At Lotus Chinese Medicine, treatments this time of year focus on restoring balance, strengthening immunity, and easing seasonal transitions.
🌿 Acupuncture – supports the Lung and Large Intestine meridians, boosts immune function, and relieves respiratory symptoms.
🔥 Moxibustion – warming therapy that strengthens the body’s Qi and helps prevent seasonal colds.
🍵 Custom Herbal Formulas – help moisten dryness, nourish Lung Yin, and protect against seasonal pathogens.
🥣 Dietary Guidance – we recommend warm, moistening foods such as pears, honey, root vegetables, soups, and congee — while avoiding excessive cold or raw foods.

📚 Research & Modern Evidence
Recent studies support the traditional understanding of seasonal care in TCM:
Herbal medicine and acupuncture have been shown to reduce symptoms and recurrence in allergic rhinitis and respiratory infections.
TCM treatments can help regulate immune-inflammatory pathways involved in allergy and sinus health.

As we transition into fall, take time to nurture your lungs, protect your immune system, and align with the rhythm of the season.

This is one of the best times of year for preventive care — to stay strong, balanced, and resilient through the colder months ahead.

🌾 Now booking autumn wellness sessions — message us to learn how acupuncture, herbs, and holistic care can support you this season.

✨ Breathe deep. Nourish your Qi. Embrace balance this fall with Lotus Chinese Medicine.

🌿 7 Years Ago Today… 🌿
Wow… can’t believe it’s been 7 years since I graduated with my Master of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine! Feels like yesterday I was walking across that stage, excited (and maybe a little nervous) to start helping people feel better the natural way.
Since then, I’ve been so lucky to work with incredible patients, see amazing transformations, and keep learning every single day. This work isn’t just what I do—it’s what I love, and I’m so grateful to be on this journey.
Big thank you to everyone who’s been part of it—patients, mentors, friends, and family. Your trust and support make everything possible. Here’s to many more years of healing and wellness together! 🌸

Being pregnant is such a tender and transformative time. When I was pregnant with my little boy (who’s now 19 months old!), I remember how exciting it was — and also how challenging it could feel when pain, tension, or sleepless nights showed up. It’s a lot to carry, in every sense of the word. 💛

Recently, many of you have asked me about Tylenol during pregnancy. The FDA has updated its safety labeling after studies showed *possible associations* between acetaminophen use in pregnancy and conditions like autism or ADHD. These studies don’t prove cause and effect, and most doctors still consider Tylenol safe when needed. But I understand the worry. It can feel hard to know what’s best for you and your baby.

This is one reason I love offering acupuncture. 🌿

Acupuncture is a gentle, drug-free way to help with common pregnancy discomforts — back and hip pain, headaches, pelvic pressure, even stress and sleep issues. It works with your body’s natural systems to reduce pain and restore balance, without adding medication concerns into the mix.

I want to be clear: sometimes medication is important and absolutely the right choice. But it’s empowering to know you have other safe, supportive options too. Acupuncture can be part of that toolkit — helping you feel more comfortable, cared for, and confident during your pregnancy.

If you’re navigating pain or tension and feel unsure about your options, you don’t have to go through it alone. I’d be honored to support you on this journey. 💕
