Nuke 17 deserves more attention than it’s getting.

Selective USD import in GeoImport means you’re no longer dragging entire scenes into comp just to access one piece of data. You can control payloads, prim activation, and graph depth before import. That alone changes how clean your scripts stay across iterations.
Gaussian Splats now live natively inside Nuke. For teams working with volumetric capture or environment reconstruction, that removes external round-tripping and keeps more of the shot inside comp.
BigCat extends machine learning beyond per-shot experimentation. Training across tens or hundreds of images opens the door to sequence-level roto and cleanup workflows that are actually reusable.
Then there’s performance. Deep renders up to 1.88× faster. GPU scaling gains that compound across shots. Native ACES 2.0. These are the kinds of improvements that don’t make splashy headlines but absolutely affect delivery schedules.
